Tuesday’s explosion was a devastating blow even for a city that has endured a 15-year civil war, suicide bombings, foreign bombardments, and political assassinations.

But no country in any continent except Europe and North America would be expected to stand for a massive influx of people with a religion and culture that teaches them that they are superior to the natives, and that they must work to impose their vision of society upon their new land.
