Charity boss blew $10million taxpayer cash meant to feed poor children on mansions for her family and yellow Mercedes for her lover, court hears

The executive director of a Missouri nonprofit stole $10 million from a program intended to provide meals for low-income children and blew it on mansions and luxury cars, her trial heard.

Connie Bobo, 46, ran the New Heights Community Resource Center, in the St Louis suburb of Bridgeton, for a decade.

She enrolled the charity in two US Department of Agriculture-funded programs that reimburse nonprofits for distributing food to needy children, prosecutors said.

Bobo is accused of claiming $20 million in reimbursements for New Heights despite having only purchased enough food and milk to serve fewer than three million meals.

She instead used the funds ‘on a mansion for herself, on houses for her family and a bright yellow Mercedes for her boyfriend,’ her trial heard Tuesday, according to the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

Her attorney, however, told the jury that Bobo did not intentionally violate the rules of the federal program and had tried to correct the issues before her arrest.

Of course she did.

OUTRAGE IN SWEDEN: Court Rules Migrant Who Raped 16-Year-Old Girl Can Stay — Because “The Rape Didn’t Last Long Enough”

A Swedish appeals court has sparked nationwide outrage after ruling that an 18-year-old Eritrean migrant who raped a 16-year-old girl will not be deported — because, in the court’s words, “the duration of the rape” was not long enough to qualify as an “exceptionally serious offense.”
 
The victim, 16-year-old Meya Åberg, was attacked on the night of September 1st last year after she missed her bus home from work. While walking through a pedestrian tunnel after her shift at McDonald’s, she was assaulted by Yazied Mohamed, an Eritrean national with refugee status in Sweden.
 
Meya and her family immediately reported the assault to police, and Mohamed was later convicted of rape and sentenced to three years in prison. Prosecutors also sought to have him deported, noting that he is not a Swedish citizen.
 
But the Court of Appeal for Upper Norrland rejected that request — citing Sweden’s refugee-protection laws. Under current Swedish statutes, a refugee may only be deported if the crime is deemed “exceptionally serious” and if allowing the person to stay would pose a “serious threat to public order and safety.”
The court concluded that, while the rape was indeed serious, it did not meet that threshold — citing, among other factors, its “duration.”
 
“Rape is, in many cases, considered an exceptionally serious offense that could lead to deportation of a refugee,” the court wrote. “But an assessment must be made based on all circumstances in the individual case. Given the nature and duration of the offense in question, the Court of Appeal finds that while the crime is serious, it does not constitute an exceptionally serious offense that would warrant a deportation order for Yazied Mohamed.”
 
The decision has ignited public fury across Sweden and beyond — with critics calling it a disturbing symbol of how lenient Europe’s migration and justice systems have become.

Grooming gang whistleblower Maggie Oliver told the Express that the cases followed “the same pattern” she had seen with Greater Manchester Police’s cover-up of the Rochdale scandal. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp MP, accused Khan of being part of a “cover-up” and called for accountability.

He said: “It is shameful that the Mayor of London is claiming to have no indication that grooming gangs are operating in London despite personally responding to reports containing evidence of victims abused by grooming gangs in the city. It is clear Sadiq Khan is facilitating a cover up.”

Reform UK MP Lee Anderson also said the mayor had “serious questions to answer.” He said: “There is real, credible evidence that grooming gangs exist in London, and for the Mayor to have potentially turned a blind eye is utterly shameful”.

He added that the UK could not “go on making the same catastrophic errors we saw in Rochdale, Rotherham, and all over the country” and demanded victims receive “proper justice”.
