Massacre of Bani Quraiza: Muslim Ummah’s Happiest Day

The massacre of Bani Quraiza, and enjoyment of the great catch of “female booty” overnight was the first major occasion of celebration and festivity for the Muslim Ummah…

The day of Bani Quaiza massacre was the happiest, the most festive, day for the Muslim umma in Medina.

Prophet had ordered the beheading of all Quraiza adult men (about 900), and the distribution of all their belongings, including their women and children:

Al-Tabari VIII:38:

“The Messenger of Allah commanded that all of the Jewish men and boys who had reached puberty should be beheaded. Then the Prophet divided the wealth, wives, and children of the Banu Qurayza Jews among the Muslims.”

Quran mentions this incident briefly in two ayas [33.26-27]:

Many ye slew, and many ye made prisoners…And Allah gave you their lands, their houses, and their goods and women, and of a land which ye had not frequented (before). And Allah has power over all things.

All jubilant Muslims of Medina had gathered to watch the colorful beheading spectacle, and anticipated booty distribution. A trench was dug in the market-place. Several men were in charge of disrobing the Jewish male prisoners for checking the growth of pubic-hair. Those having pubic-hair were marked for beheading, and the rest were sent to the enslavement camp…Sunan Abu-Dawud Book 38, Number 4390:

Narrated Atiyyah al-Qurazi:
I was among the captives of Banu Qurayzah. They (the Companions) examined us, and those who had begun to grow hair (pubes) were killed, and those who had not were not killed. I was among those who had not grown hair.

Their clothes were salvaged for booty. Prophet supervised the massacre logistics, while many sahabas, including Ali, Abu Bakr, Umar and Hamza, conducted the beheadings…The ceremonial beheading was inaugurated by the prophet himself by cutting the head of the Quraiza chief, Kab Bin Asad, with loud takbirs (i.e. Allah u Akbar) to commence the festivity. As blood gushed from the infidel’s throat, men and women shouted Allah u Akbar, and sang songs praising Allah and Mohammad…Here is a video of a modern-day young jihadis, following the sunna of the prophet and the other momins (believers), shouting Allah u Akbar, and singing Allah’s Hamd as the infidel blood is gushing out.The naked Jewish men were brought in batches to the edge of the trench, and their heads cut off and the bodies pushed into the trench. As each Jew was murdered, Muslim men and women danced with joy (as Palestinians danced on 9/11).After the massacre was completed, the booty was distributed, including the real estate, personal belongings, and the women and children.  First, the holy Prophet took his 20% prophetic cut. The crowning jewel of his share of booty was the gorgeous teenager Rehana. The remaining booty was distributed by a fair lottery system among the jihadis. Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 362:

Narrated Ibn Umar:
Prophet then killed their men and distributed their women, children and property among the Muslims…

“Sirat e Rasulullah” by Ibn Ishaq, p. 464:

After 800-900 male adults of Bani Quraiza were beheaded in batches, and thrown in trenches dug in Madina, the apostle divided their property, wives and children as booty… He took Rayhana d. Amr b. Khunafa for himself.

One woman requested that she be slaughtered as well, as she would rather die than be sex-slave to the murderers of his family and community. Another man Al Zabir was exempted from beheading by the Prophet on the request of Thabit, whose life was saved by Zabir in the past. However, Zabir preferred to be beheaded rather than live, while his loved ones were murdered in cold blood. That pissed off the Prophet, and he shouted: “Go join your friends in hell fire”, and ordered Thabit to cut the throat of his benefactor friend himself.

Our prophet retired early to enjoy lovely Rehana ASAP. Having raped overnight the shell-shocked teenager—who had witnessed her brothers, father and husband beheaded earlier in the day—he offered to marry her, if she converted to Islam. She turned down his offer, and refused to be a wife of the killer of his near and dear one, including her husband. Our prophet, a true admirer of beautiful women, retained her as a concubine in his harem, which she had no way to refuse.That was the happiest night for many bachelor momins, who were having a woman for the first time, thanks to their prophet. Many shared their booty with other bachelor friends, who could not get a woman themselves in the draw.Here is a video of a 12-year-old girl, who was raped by several Talibans in practicing the sunna of their beloved prophet. The difference is that the raped Quraiza 12-year-olds did not have their families to cry with them like this grieving Afghan girl.The next morning, our prophet noticed that many young jihadis had not showed up for the fajar prayers. Staying awake all night to have fun was not a good excuse for missing the compulsory salat. He ordered the huts of all those, who had not showed up for prayer, burned down while they slept in it after a fun night.

Bukhari V1:B11:N626:

“The Prophet said, “burn all those who had not left their houses for the prayer, burning them alive inside their homes.’”

Never seen before were so many naked jihadis running out of burning huts with their beards and pubics on fire. Burning and killing bad Muslims is a very special sunna and is followed by good Muslims even today.Prophet’s one-fifth share of the Quraiza booty was one of his biggest loot. It included over a hundred women. He kept the best looking younger ones for his personal use, and also distributed some of them for the use of his friends and relatives.The History of Tabari, vol 8, pge 29-30:

From his share of captive women, prophet gave his son-in-law, Ali a slave girl, Raytah bt Hilal to enjoy her at his will. He also presented Uthman b. Affan, his son-in-law, another slave girl Zainab b. Hayan, and bestowed another girl (name unknown) to his father in-law Omar Ibn Khattab. Omar gave that girl to his son Abdullah. Most of Prophet’s other elite companions received slave girls as gifts.

The remainder were sent to Najd to be sold for purchasing arms and horses with the proceed [Tabari VIII:39]:

Then the Messenger of Allah sent Sa’d bin Zayd with some of the Qurayza captives to Najd, and in exchange for them he purchased horses and arms.

Muhammad’s biographer Ibn Ishaq:

Then they surrendered, and the apostle confined them in Medina in the quarter of d. al-Harith, a woman of B. al-Najjar. Then the apostle went out to the market of Medina (which is still its market today) and dug trenches in it. Then he sent for them and struck off their heads in those trenches as they were brought out to him in batches. Among them was the enemy of Allah Huyayy b. Akhtab and Ka`b b. Asad their chief. There were 600 or 700 in all, though some put the figure as high as 800 or 900. As they were being taken out in batches to the apostle they asked Ka`b what he thought would be done with them. He replied, ‘Will you never understand? Don’t you see that the summoner never stops and those who are taken away do not return? By Allah it is death!’ This went on until the apostle made an end of them.

The 800 Jews were Asking for it!

For months, Hindu or atheist writers of India Post were accusing the noble person of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) that he murdered 800 Jews because they refused to convert to Islam after the battle of the ‘Ditch’. This is a comprehensive response in defence of Prophet’s noble personality.

Ref.: Jai Somanath, “Islam lacks penitential spirit”, India Post, Dec. 18th 1998. The title of my rebuttal to Mr. Jai Somanath’s article may appear strange but as we dig deeper the deception in Mr. Jai article will begin to surface and the person of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) would still be a shinning example to all of humanity. Mr. Jai refers to a hadith (saying or deed of Prophet Mohammad) found in the collection of Sahih Muslim #4370:

“Angel Gabriel pointed to Banu Quraiza (Jewish tribe). Messenger of Allah fought against them…they surrendered…those of whom who can fight were killed, their women and children taken prisoners, their properties distributed among Muslims”.

Mr. Jai deliberately left out the reasons why Angel Gabriel pointed to Banu Quraiza, why did the Prophet fought against them and why the Jews themselves choose the decision to die!

Now, since Mr. Jai used the book of Mr. William Muir (The Life of Mahomet), I’ll take him to task using his own source. For each incidence in history there is a context and here is one regarding the above mentioned incidence. In the city of Medinah, where Prophet Muhammad founded the Islamic State, there were three Jewish tribes.

As Sir Muir writes (p. 183):

“One of the objects nearest his (Muhammad’s) heart was a federal union with the Jews…He associated them with himself by a treaty of mutual obligation drawn up in writing, which bound the followers (Muslims) on one hand, and the Jews on the other hand, and confirmed the later among other things in the practice of their religion and the secure possession of their property”.

Thus the readers will appreciate Prophet’s tolerance towards other and his undertaking to build a peace treaty with the Jews and respecting their religion and property.

The peace treaty is worded thus: (pp. 183-4)

“whosoever is rebellious or seeketh to spread enmity and sedition, the hand of every man shall be against him, even if he be a son. No unbeliever shall grant protection to the people of Mecca (who were at war with the Muslims), either in person or property, nor interpose between the believers and them. The Jews shall contribute with the Muslims, while at war with a common enemy. The Jewish clans in alliance with the several tribes of Medina are one people with the Believers…if attacked each shall come to the assistance of the other. None shall join the men of Mecca or their allies”.

It is very important to remember that this peace treaty was fully accepted by the Jews (p. 184).

Now when the Meccan (pagan) enemies of Islam came forth with a force to attack Medinah, and annihilate Islam, the Banu Quraiza, the Jewish tribe in Medinah who agreed to abide by the peace treaty with the Muslims joined the enemies ranks and thus openly the treacherously broke the peace treaty.

Mr. Jai your own source testifies to this fact. (p. 308):

“Meanwhile, Abu Sufyan (chief of Meccan pagans) succeeded in detaching the Beni Koraiza, now the only remaining Jewish tribe, from their allegiance to Mohammad…It was agreed that the Beni Koreiza would assist Koreish (the meccan pagans)”.

The Prophet sent two of his deputies to reconcile with the Jews and remind them about the peace alliance. The Jews responded: “There is no bond or compact between us and him” (p. 309).

Thus they had committed breach of the treaty right at the most critical moment of the war, joined hands with the invaders and endangered the entire population of Madinah.

Thus after winning the battle against the Meccan pagans, the Prophet moved toward the Bani Quraiza tribe to justly reprove them (as per the treaty) for breaking the sacred agreed upon alliance. By his mercy, the Prophet asked the Jewish tribe as to who should be the judge to grant them the appropriate castigation. The Jews agreed that one of their own men, Sa’d ibn Mu’adh (a Jewish convert to Islam) to be their judge.

Thus Sa’d (and NOT the Prophet) questioned the Jewish tribe, (p. 317): “will ye, then bind yourselves by the covenant of God that whatsoever I shall decide, ye shall accept?” There was a murmur of assent. “Then” Proceeded Sa’d, “my judgement is that the men shall be put to death…”. Then the judgement was likewise implemented.

Now with this context to the incident one can clearly conclude that the Islamic state had a relationship of full tolerance and a comprehensive peace treaty with the Jews which all sides agreed to abide by. This treaty was broken by the Jews, who fought alongside the enemies of Islam, and were thus punished according to the judgement made by a man of their own liking and choice, whose judgement they promised to abide by. Thus the dirt spilled on the personality of the Prophet of Mercy is fully and successfully wiped off and now rest on the shoulders of Mr. Jai and his likes who are again crushed under their own source, this time Sir William Muir (William Muir, The Life of Mahomet, 1st. Indian ed. (Voice of India, 1992).

Now, the concocted lies about the prophet and Rehana mentioned in Mr. Jai’s letter is depleted of any references. Neither him nor his source, Sir William Muir, supplied any hadith to support this story, thus this is ranked as one more failed tactic to defame Islam.

Lastly Mr. Jai, your own source, Sir William Muir, concludes by praising the Prophet for his immense contribution to the world,

“We may freely concede that it (Islam) banished forever many of the darker elements of superstition for ages shrouding the (Arabian) Peninsula. Idolatry vanished before the battle-cry of Islam; the doctrine of the Unity and infinite Perfections of God, and a special all-pervading Providence, became a living principle in the hearts and lives of the followers of Mohammad, even as in his own…Nor are social virtues wanting. Brotherly love inculcated towards all within the circle of the faith; infanticide proscribed; orphans to be protected, and slaves (servants) treated with considerations; intoxicating drinks prohibited, so that Mohammadanism (Islam) may boast of a degree of temperance unknown to any other creed”. (The Life of Mahomet, p. 521).

A Dose of Reality:

Did Prophet Muhammad order Killing Surrendered Jews of Banu Quraiza and Khaybar?  A historical Analysis!

In the post 9/11 era of this modern-world, Islamists around the globe are busy with ‘damage control utopia’ in order to correct the image of religion Islam. We all know that the nucleus of Islam are: Quran, Hadiths (Sunnah) supported by Islamic histories and biographies recorded by various famous Islamic scholars and historians. Now, if we read Quran, hadiths and historical accounts (written by famous Muslim and non-Muslim historians) of Islam with our neutral mind-set, we can easily discover myriads of evidences which are the testament of the fact that unlike any other world’s organized religions, Islam was an Arab political and imperialistic ideology which was propagated by the sword.
