Another strategic error in the failure to address the ideological basis of Jihad in Islamic supremacism is that the lack of such a strategic debate allows a series of false and misleading reports about Jihadists allegedly “renouncing” jihad or abandoning Islamism. The point of these media reports are to suggest that either (a) there is no jihadist threat, or (b) what threat does exist is diminishing as “extremists” realize the folly of violence. Such reports have one clear purpose: quash public debate on the real ideological basis behind Jihad, with the secondary purpose of questioning Jihad as a “real threat.”

The Jihadist who is still a Jihadist

One example is the July 13, 2008 UK Guardian/Observer article by Lawrence Wright “The heretic — How Al-Qaeda’s mastermind turned his back on terror.” It is clear from a close reading of the article that the headline simply is not accurate, but the Guardian/Observer doesn’t expect most of the public to read the article closely, they are simply looking for a headline to influence public opinion.

8/16/2008 PESHAWAR: Girls schools face danger of extinction in the troubled Swat valley if the present pace of torching and bombing of the institutions continued, as militants reduced 28 more schools to debris during the last 10 days of fresh violence. 

Fazlullah-commanded Taliban operating in the scenic valley started targeting girl schools to replace the existing educational system based on ‘infidel’ curriculum with an ‘Islamic’ one that could produce ‘mujahideen and honest people’. The Taliban action is also meant to bring the government to its knees to stop military operation against them.

Answering the queries of The News regarding the destruction of the girls’ schools, Swat Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan said the aim of destroying schools was to pressure the government and replace the education system. “At present, we are using the torching and bombing of schools as a war tactic against the government. Also, this education system has been producing corrupt people and needs to be reformed. Musharraf and Zardari are the production of this education system, but what they made of this country. The doctors produced by this system are also fleecing the people,” he argued.

* Sheik yer’mami  has always maintained that the ‘moderate Muslim’ is the one who dreams up excuses while the not so moderate Muslim cuts your throat. Here, a correspondent from Riyadh phrases it slightly more elegant, but the essence is the same:

Last night on Arabic TV two Muslim clerics pointed out that the expressions “al-muslim al-mu’tadil” (moderate Muslim) and “al-muslim al-mutatarrif” (extremist Muslim) do not even exist in Islamic theology but are Western inventions. The Quran and the sunna use no such terms. If you want to classify Muslims according to Islamic thinking, I am aware of two possibilities. The first is to make a distinction between the first Muslims in Mecca (where Islam was weak and propagated by preaching), and the Muslims in Medina (where Islam became strong and spread by jihad). The second is to classify Muslims by how carefully they follow Islamic teachings. Arabic calls these “multizim” (committed) or “ghayr multizim” (non-committed). It is similar to the Western concept of someone being a practicing or non-practicing Christian or an observant or non-observant Jew.

                     Dhaka — Many in Muslim-majority Bangladesh accuse Christian groups of exploiting the need of underprivileged people to lure them into Christianity with money and jobs.“Every year a large number of poor people, caste Hindus, Buddhist, Muslims and tribal people, convert to Christianity through financial support,” a senior official of the Ministry of Religious Affairs told IslamOnline.net, requesting anonymity for the sensitivity of the issue. Mainly tribal people, low caste Hindus and Buddhists were the usual target of conversion motivated by cash and jobs. Now Muslims are also converting. “Poverty and economic problems are the main causes of conversion to Christianity,” says Abdullah Al-Faruque, the press manager of a leading daily newspaper. He notes that a visit to any church on Sunday would show that most of the devotees are poor people. “Christian missionaries and NGOs are working to convert people in the name of social service and development works,” says Abdur Rahman Mallick, an educational consultant. “I have no information about increasing Christian population in Bangladesh,” Secretary Ataur Rahman told IOL. A GOVERNMENT minister has condemned a decision by radical Muslims to stage their annual party conference in London’s East End on Saturday.

Labour’s Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick said the Islamist organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir, which wants Britain to be an ‘Islamic’ state, was being deliberately divisive choosing Stepney for its conference.

The Poplar & Canning Town MP’s comments were backed by Tower Hamlets Tory Opposition councillor Tim Archer, who described Hizb ut-Tahrir’s decision as “disgusting.”

Cllr Archer added: “The last thing we need in Tower Hamlets is a questionable organisation getting its claws stuck into our communities.”

That ‘man’ was -of course-  another Musulman, and a sexual spastic too, but be sure that none of this has anything to do with Islam:

A 21-year-old was caught masturbating just metres from a fitness class at a private Wandsworth health club, South Western Magistrates’ Court has heard.

Ahmed Bilal was in the steam room of Cannons Health Club in Kimber Road on July 8, close to where a class was being taken in the swimming pool area.

The court was told he was seen masturbating with his shorts pulled down to his knees.

When staff approached to stop him, he sat down and covered himself up and was later arrested by police.
