Yemen releases 170 al-Qaeda members
First Libya releases 136 al-Qaeda members, saying it will still release another 170; now Yemen releases 170. Not to worry, however; the jihadists signed “pledges” to refrain from terrorism.

Freed by Kadhafi’s son, Seif al-Islam
Very appropriate, since Seif al-Islam means “Sword of Islam.” His work is not done, however; he plans on releasing another 170 jihadis with close ties to al-Qaeda. “Libya frees 136 Islamists close to Qaeda,” from AFP, March 11 (thanks to Jeffrey Imm):
TRIPOLI (AFP) – Libya has freed 136 members of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, an Islamist groupclose to Al-Qaeda, in the past two years, the Kadhafi Foundation headed by the son of Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi said on Wednesday.
US to release 100 Gitmo apes to… Saudi Arabia!
WASHINGTON — Some of the roughly 100 Yemenis held at Guantanamo Bay would go to Saudi Arabia under a plan being discussed by U.S. and Saudi officials, said people briefed on the talks.
Yemenis make up the largest national grouping among the roughly 250 inmates still at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo. U.S. officials believe addressing their fate is urgent if President Barack Obama is to make good on his commitment to close the prison by January 2010.
