The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) presented  the The Süddeutsche Zeitung with the Islam Media award of 2014.  Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, head of State of Qatar and Chairman of the Awards Committee,  Doha, declared that the Islam-Media Prize of the OIC is awarded each year  to significant journalistic pro-Islamic coverage by newspapers, magazines and radio and television stations around the world, which make an important contribution in the interest of global Islamization. “Newspapers” within the meaning of this regulation shall be deemed to be also publications of the German mainstream press.
