"Syrian people now experience beheadings, crucifixions, beatings, murders … many who participate in these activities are British”

This of course should read “Syria’s most bloodthirsty jihadists hold British passports”.

Britons make up the majority of foreign fighters in the most violent terrorist group in Syria, blamed for beheadings and crucifixions, a senior Syrian rebel commander has said.

What they are doing you can see here:

Brigadier-General Abdulellah al-Basheer pleaded with Britain to send weapons to the moderate but outgunned Syrian opposition to help them to deal with the increasingly brutal threat of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS). In a letter to The Times he warned that a failure to act could lead to British extremists returning home to “continue on their pernicious path of destruction”.

The warning, from a leading member of the Free Syrian Army, came as MPs said that a debate on policy in Syria was long overdue, particularly given the threat posed by returning jihadists.

General al-Basheer, chief of staff of the supreme military council, the commanding body of the Free Syrian Army, said that more than 60 per cent of foreign fighters in Syria belonged to ISIS, a Sunni Islamist group that uses such extreme violence in its attempt to carve out an Islamic caliphate in Syria and neighbouring Iraq that it has been denounced even by al-Qaeda.

“The majority are from the UK,” General Basheer wrote.  “They are not freedom fighters. They are terrorists. We the Syrian people now experience beheadings, crucifixions, beatings, murders . . . Many who participate in these activities are British.”

Five hundred Britons are thought to have travelled to Syria to take part in the war against President Assad, with the majority joining ISIS. More than a dozen Britons are known to have been killed in the fighting.
