Police allege Mr Causevic, and co-accused Sevdet Besim, were planning an Anzac Day terror attack in which they hoped to kill and behead a police officer.
It is alleged they planned to continue committing acts of violence until they were themselves killed.
Police had run surveillance on Mr Causevic and saw him doing his own surveillance on the Shrine and police officers, the court heard.
After a minor collision at a shopping centre car park, Mr Causevic allegedly told the other driver: “Australia is s— and ISIS is going to kill this country.”
