Outgoing Human Rights Commission president Gillian Triggs, who defended widely condemned 18C actions against Queensland university students and the late cartoonist Bill Leak, is to receive a “free speech prize” from a civil liberties group.

ROWAN DEAN ON GILLIAN TRIGG’S “FREE SPEECH” AWARD

Tony Abbott:

‘She’s been the enemy of free speech, the absolute arch enemy of free speech in the country,’ he told Sydney radio 2GB host Ben Fordham on Wednesday.

‘It cannot be taken seriously, anything that couples the name Gillian Triggs with free speech.

‘She’s paid half a million bucks a year to trample on people’s free speech so I think it’s just a joke that this award is going to her.’

Chris Kenny:

Giving the Voltaire award to Gillian Triggs is an act of evil genius… This announcement by Liberty Victoria actually rewards Triggs for the way she has used the power of the state to quash free speech.

Don’t miss this: Rowan Dean goes to town over the sickest of sick jokes. Liberty Victoria has actually given its Voltaire award for free speech to … Gillian Triggs, president of the Human Rights Commission and persecutor of Bill Leak and innocent university students.

In 2013, Prof Triggs was the subject of a profile piece in a Fairfax newspaper in which she openly spoke about her late daughter, Victoria, who was born in 1984 with the debilitating chromosomal disorder, Edwards syndrome. “Victoria was as severely retarded as anyone who is still alive can be,” Prof Triggs said. “It sounds terrible, but I’d look at Victoria and think: ‘Well, you’re going to die, so I’m not going to invest too much in you’.” When Victoria was six months old, Prof Triggs and her then partner handed the baby’s care over to another family until the girl died, many years later, aged 21. Prof Triggs justified their decision thus: “I simply made the judgment that I would rather put my time into my other children and family, because I also never believed she would live to that age.”

  1. Professor Triggs may not be mentally retarded but she sure is socially and ethically. She did not think much of the rights of her own child, why should she care about the rest of society? I’d look at Victoria and say it is hardly worth saving, but I have to live here. I’d look at the world and say, “Let the Muslims take over. The world deserves it.” But there are many innocents who who do not deserve to suffer Islam. So I will speak out where I can and do what I can to defer Islam’s take over, even if that is just for the sake of my children and grandchildren.
Democracy only goes so far. We get stuck with various, unelected officials who seem hell bent on destroying our way of life. We can’t vote them out. Who on earth vets these appointments? It is not good enough.

  2. GILLIAN TRIGG …
Now for Trigg’s Rest Of Life “incarceration” for ALL her Humitarian ACTS that

promote islams (“allah’s” vermin) and their islam (“allah’s” curse)

    !!!
(No evil deed … and in Trigg’s with her “Little Timmy’s” case … deeds … are to go unpunished)
… and they both return their unwarranted “Salaries” … in total !!!

  3. “I simply made the judgment that I would rather put my time into listening to realists, because I also never believed Gillian would live to ever say anything of substance that had any bearing on reality”

  4. YET AGAIN ONE OF THE WORLDS GREAT “WTF” MOMENTS!
Giving Trigg’s an award for her contributions to free speech has to be one of the most dumbest, idiotic, moronic and stupidest awards to the arch enemy of free speech there ever was!
The so called “Civil Liberties Group” that is proposing this award is without a doubt not “Civil”, without “Liberties” of mental or ethical character and a “Group” of complete and utter “FRACKWITS”

  5. There’s only one way to deal with these Commisariat scum. Do to them what they’d do to you if they were given unfettered power to do as they please.

Problem fixed. Unfortunately democracy and freedom comes at a price, why let them destroy it.
