Shut up and inject that poison!

“Government of the people, by the people, for the people.”
Those words were spoken by Abraham Lincoln in his famous Gettysburg Address, and have endured for more than a century and a half as an expression of democratic government.

Clearly the inference is that legislation must reflect the will of the people. Yet today, in Australia, legislation so often reflects only the wishes of those in power, with no consideration for the wishes of the people.

Given the choice, how many rank and file Australians would be in favour of empowering the government to dictate to doctors how they may advise and treat their patients?

The answer is obvious: few indeed. Yet the Queensland government has given just such powers to itself, without any reference to the wishes of the people.
This latest obscene power grab by Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and her government of left-wing louts is titled the “Health Practitioner Regulation National Law and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2022”. Quite apart from being a blatant abuse of power and trust, elements of the Bill appears to be in contravention of the “Declaration Of Geneva 1948”, one of the oldest policies of the World Medical Association, enacted in response to the Nazi medical atrocities of World War II. We can only hope that this apparent violation leaves the Bill open to legal challenge.
