If you think the war against agenda-driven censorship is over, think again! The EU has issued a stern warning to Elon over compliance with new laws on ‘fake news’ and Russian propaganda. They accused 𝕏 of having the highest ratio of disinformation posts. Facebook also ranked poorly. European Commissioner Věra Jourová: “We will be watching what you do” Worst case scenario, 𝕏 faces a ban across all of Europe except the UK, if it is found non-compliant. WHAT’S THE REAL REASON FOR THIS?
Is it really about ‘disinformation’? Why was Facebook not targeted like 𝕏? Well, they make it clear: Jourová condemned Russia’s “war of ideas” aimed at sowing misinformation and discord. There we have it folks, the main focus is about censorship of pro-Russia narratives of the war in Ukraine. YouTube removed over 400 channels linked to pro-Russian news, while Google cut ties with nearly 300 state-funded ‘propaganda’ sites.
This is clearly a full embargo on the Russian perspective. Platforms are now being forced by the state to censor information that does not fit the narrative of the politicians. This is not free speech, this is becoming propaganda, and we are witnessing a worrying trend. This is also building on top of the media attacks against @elonmusk over Starlink, painting him in a negative light when it comes to the Ukraine war.
