Pope Francis: “Climate change is currently a path to death”
Pope Francis says so climate crisis has “reached the point of no return” as the planet continues to see the effects of global warming and world leaders have an even greater responsibility to take action.
“How concerned are you about climate change?” CBS Evening News anchor and editor-in-chief Norah O’Donnell asked Francis during a historic interview in Vatican City.
“Unfortunately, we have reached a point of no return. It’s sad, but it is. Global warming is a serious problem,” Francis replied. “Climate change is a path to death right now.”
Francis said rich countries dependent on fossil fuels are contributing to the problem.

On Earth Day this year, Francis wrote a message on social media saying: “Our generation has left behind many riches, but we have failed to protect the planet and we cannot guarantee peace. We are called to become craftsmen and caretakers of our common home. , the earth ‘in decline.’”
