“Islamophobia” is an insult. It suggests infidels who reject the islamic belief system suffer from a mental condition that can only be cured by submission to Islam. Who in his right mind would support this idiot-propaganda by throwing money at it?
The Albanese government announced on Monday the appointment of a Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia in Australia.
Labor has revealed Aftab Malik will lead the task force to combat prejudice and discrimination against the Islamic Australian community.
Mr Malik has been recognised as a global expert on Muslim affairs by the UN Alliance of Civilisations.
He has also worked in the NSW Department of the Premier and Cabinet to work on combatting violent extremism in Australia.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese previously announced in July the appointment of Jillian Segal as Special Envoy to Combat Anti-Semitism.
While the Islamophobia envoy has been expected for some time, the appointment was repeatedly delayed due to potential candidates falling through.
The government has invested as much as $90 million to “tackle the ongoing impacts of the Hamas-Israel conflict”.
Mr Malik said he hoped to engage with his antisemitism counterpart, Ms Segal, to “share insights and exchange ideas” to bring the communities together.
The announcement comes at a time of heightened tensions following allegedly antisemitic protests in Sydney and Melbourne.

Australian Federal Police announced at least six investigations into the display of terrorist symbols, including Hezbollah flags, over the weekend.
There were also reports of protesters chanting calls for violence against Jews and inciting hatred.
A Resolve Strategic survey commissioned by the Sydney Morning Herald found most Australians believed there was a rise in racism as a result of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
“Promoting social cohesion and fighting against hate in Australia is more important today than it’s ever been,” Mr Malik said.
“I look forward to working with Muslim leaders and the broader community to promote peace, understanding and inclusivity.”
In his comments, Mr Malik acknowledged the complicated landscape of hatred towards both Jews and Muslims in Australia.
“Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia are not mutually exclusive: where there is one, you most likely will find the other, lurking,” he said.
“I don’t intend to use this role to advocate that one form of hatred is more important than another: both antisemitism and Islamophobia are unacceptable.”

While the appointment has been seen as a positive step towards fostering dialogue and understanding, it has come at a delicate time.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has warned anyone who sought to “incite discord” in Australia could face cancelled visas over security concerns.
Mr Burke made the announcement in response to the display of Hezbollah flags and tributes to the terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah, recently killed by an Israeli strike.
