A Marxist Muslim Mayor For New York?

If you’re too far left for the New York Times, that’s really saying something.

In the case of New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, the ‘paper of record’ is even urging their readers not to put him on the city’s ranked choice ballot.

The paper notes that Mamdani lacks any sort of experience which would qualify him to run the Big Apple, and points out that some of his ideas will simply (further) bankrupt the city.

Actually, ‘globalize the intifada’ is a call to commit violence against Jews. New York City will not be safe for Jews, if the anti-Semitic thug Zohran Mamdani is elected mayor.

The Queens assemblyman and New York City mayoral candidate refused to condemn the phrase as example of antisemitism on the left

Zohran Mamdani, a leading candidate in next Tuesday’s New York City mayoral primary, refused to condemn calls to “globalize the intifada” during a new podcast interview with The Bulwark released on Tuesday, arguing the phrase is an expression of Palestinian rights.

Not sure why it’s “overdue” or needed, but it Colbert sez it….

Stephen Colbert Says Cynthia Erivo Playing Female Jesus in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Is

Colbert: Black, Queer, Female Jesus in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ Is ‘Long Overdue’

CBS’s Stephen Colbert praised actress Cynthia Erivo for playing the lead role of Jesus in the upcoming Hollywood Bowl production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and called the casting “long overdue.”

“One of my favorite musicals of all time is Jesus Christ Superstar. And I’m so excited that, in August, you’re going to be playing Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Hollywood Bowl,” Colbert told Erivo during an interview on The Late Show last week.

“That’s right,” Erivo, who is set to star as Jesus in an upcoming production of Jesus Christ Superstar, responded, to which Colbert noted that the actress is the “first woman to play Jesus in a major production.”

The television host and self-described Roman Catholic went on to claim that a woman playing the role of Jesus is “long overdue,” adding, “I’ve said for years, I’d love to see a woman in that part.”

“What does that mean to you?” Colbert asked, to which the Wicked star replied, “It just means a lot to me.”

Erivo went on to say, “I think the idea that I can play this role, and that I’ve been given the opportunity to play it in front of so many people at that place in this time of my life is a very special thing.”

“It’s the first time I’ve been on stage in that way for a long time, so to do it with this role is awesome,” the queer Bad Times at the El Royale actress added.

Earlier this month, Erivo mocked critics who accused her and the musical of “blasphemy” over a female being cast as Jesus in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s upcoming rock opera.

“Hopefully they will come and realize, ‘Oh, it’s a musical, the gayest place on Earth,’” the Harriet actress quipped to Billboard, dismissing the mockery of Jesus Christ and Christianity — a move the entertainment industry knows better than to make when it comes to other religions, such as Islam.

More on that Marxist Muslim from Uganda:

I very rarely agree with the editorial board of the @nytimes on any topic, but I support every word of this NON ENDORSEMENT of Zohran Mamdani. He doesn’t deserve to be on anyone’s ballot for NY City mayor:

“Unfortunately, Mr. Mamdani is running on an agenda uniquely unsuited to the city’s challenges. He is a democratic socialist who too often ignores the unavoidable trade-offs of governance. He favors rent freezes that could restrict housing supply and make it harder for younger New Yorkers and new arrivals to afford housing. He wants the government to operate grocery stores, as if customer service and retail sales were strengths of the public sector. He minimizes the importance of policing.”

“Most worrisome, he shows little concern about the disorder of the past decade, even though its costs have fallen hardest on the city’s working-class and poor residents. Mr. Mamdani, who has called Mr. de Blasio the best New York mayor of his lifetime, offers an agenda that remains alluring among elite progressives but has proved damaging to city life.”

“Mr. Mamdani would also bring less relevant experience than perhaps any mayor in New York history. He has never run a government department or private organization of any size. As a state legislator, he has struggled to execute his own agenda.”

“…We do not believe that Mr. Mamdani deserves a spot on New Yorkers’ ballots.”
