If it wasn’t bad enough that Israel was pushed into a premature ceasefire with Iran, now Trump wants another ceasefire with Hamas.

Under the terms of his “ceasefire” deal, eight hostages would be freed on Day 1, and two more on Day 50. The bodies of 18 deceased would be returned in three phases across the two-month ceasefire. In exchange for these hostages, Israel would release 125 Palestinian prisoners in addition to 1,111 Gazans that Israel had arrested after October 7 – people who, in some way physically attacked or committed some crime against IDF forces.

In other words, Trump expects Israel to stand down even though a further 13 living hostages will have no release date and 9 families will be left waiting to bury their loved ones.
Do I welcome the chance of the return of some of the hostages? Of course, but Hamas are playing Trump like an Irish flute and Witkoff is so eager to dance to make his boss look like the great peacemaker that he should audition for Riverdance.

We know Hamas cannot be trusted. We know that historically they do not adhere to ceasefire agreements and use time to regroup and resupply.
So we have to wait hopefully for a bunch of terrorists to consider whether they are willing to stop murdering innocents.

Let me ask a question – did the US negotiate with Al Queda after 9/11? Did they negotiate with Isis? No – they struck back and hard – but Trump seems to act as though there is one rule for the US and another for Israel. Only an hour ago, Donald Trump offered the Palestinian terror group a personal direct guarantee that he will remain committed to ending the war in Gaza. I have one simple question – when did he get an Israeli passport that he can make such assertions. It is not for him to decide, it is for Israel.

But undoubtedly there will be a ceasefire of some sort – and after a while Hamas will breach it. Only some of the hostages will be released but Israel will be forced to release most of its prisoners .. and naturally it will all start over again.

Undoubtedly this post will upset/ annoy, even anger ardent Trump supporters. Let me be clear – I don’t care! You want to defend him by arguing that his political and economic insight will make America great again? I do not care, I only care about Israel. You don’t like hearing opposition – move on. Democracy is about being able to speak your mind.
