Without the Muslim vote, Burke wouldn’t have a seat.
This is a sellout & a traitor of the worst kind.
Australians have full freedom of speech since when, Tony Burke???

If that’s the case, why do we have hate speech laws??
What do we have 18C?!
Why don’t we have our own 1st Amendment?!

No Muzzle for Aussies: Backing Musk Against the e-Karen Empire
The night air had a bitter chill, slithering through the Sydney streets, as I sat in a Kings Cross shithole, nursing a flat VB and scrolling through the digital carnage of the eSafety Commissioner’s latest crusade. The e-Karen, they call her, Australia’s self-appointed net nanny, armed with a clipboard and a vendetta against anything that smells like free thought. Julie Inman Grant, the bureaucrat with a grin like a tax auditor, has been swinging her censorship stick like a T20 opener, and the whole bloody country’s ducking for cover. But there’s one bloke she’s got in her crosshairs, one wild-eyed visionary who’s got the e-Karens clutching their pearls: Elon Musk.
I’m no stranger to chaos, mate. I’ve seen bikie brawls in pubs, rolled 4wd’s down sand dunes, and once got lost in the Outback with nothing but a bag of mushrooms and a head full of bad ideas. But this? This is a different kind of madness. The eSafety Commissioner, with her army of keyboard warriors and government-backed killjoys, are out to sanitise the internet like it’s a public dunny in Bondi. She’s got X in her sights, demanding Musk bend the knee, pull down posts, and hand over the keys to his platform like some kind of digital pimp. And for what? To protect us from “harmful content”? Christ, I’ve seen more harm in a meat pie from a servo at 3 a.m.
Musk, that mad bastard, is holding the line. He’s out there in his California spaceship factory, tweeting like a man possessed, calling out the e-Karen’s overreach like a shearer calling bullshit on a dodgy fleece. He’s not just fighting for X; he’s fighting for the right to speak, to think, to sling a few truths into the void without some bureaucrat in Canberra deciding it’s too spicy for the delicate Aussie palate. And let me tell you, mate, that’s a fight worth having. Because when the e-Karens start deciding what’s “safe” for us to see, we’re not just losing a few memes, we’re losing the plot.
Australia’s sliding, and it’s sliding fast. We’re a nation of larrikins, bred on irreverence, raised on the kind of free speech that let us call our prime ministers “dickhead” and “mate” in the same breath. But now? Now we’ve got the eSafety Commissioner playing judge, jury, and executioner, ready to fine tech companies millions for not scrubbing posts quick enough. It’s not about safety; it’s about control. They’re building a digital gulag, one takedown notice at a time, and if we don’t push back, we’ll wake up in a country where the only thing you can say online is what the government deems appropriate.
Censorship’s a slippery slope, and we’re halfway down the bloody slide. First, it’s “harmful content.” Then it’s “misinformation.” Next thing you know, you’re getting a fine for tweeting about the price of avo toast. The e-Karen’s got her foot on the throat of free expression, and every time she flexes, the air gets a little thinner. Totalitarianism doesn’t come with jackboots and tanks anymore, mate, it comes with algorithms, compliance officers, and a sanctimonious smile. Australia’s not there yet, but you can smell it on the breeze, like smoke from a bushfire you can’t quite see.
Musk gets it. He’s not perfect, mind you, bloke’s got more dollars than sense sometimes, and his tweets read like a mad scientist’s diary after a few too many Red Bulls. But he’s out there, taking the hits, refusing to let the e-Karens turn X into another sanitised corporate echo chamber. He’s fighting for a world where you can still call a spade a bloody spade, where ideas can slug it out in the open, and where the truth doesn’t need a government stamp of approval. That’s worth something. That’s worth everything.
I took a swig of my VB, the barstool creaking under me like the last gasp of a free internet. The PA system was playing “Waltzing Matilda,” and for a moment, I felt the ghost of Banjo Paterson quietly processing his disappointment in the corner. We’re Aussies, for Christ’s sake. We’re supposed to be the ones telling the world to bugger off, not begging for a muzzle. If we let the e-Karen and her mates win, we’re not just losing a platform, we’re losing who we are.
Like Aldous Huxley said, “propaganda wins by shutting up the truth.” Let’s not stay quiet, let’s back Musk, back X, and tell the e-Karens to take their censorship and shove it where the sun don’t shine. Because if we don’t, we’ll be waltzing into a future where the only thing free is the Wi-Fi, and even that’ll come with terms and conditions.
Pass the bottle doc – for the past have seen pleasures that the future may never know.
