 At least 22 senior officials in the new Syrian army have a jihadist background – including the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff, the Air Force commander, and division commanders, including those who participated in fighting the Druze in Sweida (July 2025). This poses a challenge to stability in Syria and a security challenge for Israel. Some divisions have effectively undergone “rebranding,” but a significant number of their soldiers and commanders continue to hold extremist ideology and see minorities in Syria and Israel as enemies to be destroyed.

Syria: Christians and Alawites warned to convert to Islam or pay the jizya

Translation: “Flyers on the fences of the Christian and Alawite city of Tartus in Syria: Either you immediately change your religion from Christian to Muslim and convert to Islam or you will pay protection money and your life. Anonymous people distribute flyers throughout the city and at the end it says all religions are infidels and only Islam is a righteous religion.”

This is not “extremism,” or a hijacking of Islam. The Qur’an itself tells Muslims to fight against “the people of the book” (Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians) until they submit and pay the jizya, that is, what is referred to on the sign as “protection money.” Jizya is the cornerstone of dhimmitude, the subservient status of the non-Muslims under the hegemony of Islam: the non-Muslims get a limited “protection” in exchange for their submission.

“Fight against those do not believe in Allah or the last day, and do not forbid what Allah and his messenger have forbidden, and do not follow the religion of truth, even if they are among the people of the book, until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” (Qur’an 9:29)

“And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the hereafter.” (Qur’an 3:85)

Talk about a Trojan horse. Then on top of that, you have them in our universties preaching hatred, and we can’t even get them deported because of woke leftist institutes and a corrupt federal district judge hegemony of woke libtards in robes.
