The Guardian’s latest climate warning reads like scripture for the secular and the simple-minded.
It takes a recent government-commissioned report—released just last month—and turns it into a sermon of doom.
Each map, chart, and headline hums with holy panic, promising damnation by drought.
Australia, we’re told, is doomed to burn, drown, and disappear unless we kneel before the altar of “urgent action.”
It’s less science than stagecraft — fear masquerading as fact.
By 2050, we’re told our land will be scorched, our cities flooded, and our way of life unlivable if “emissions are not curbed”.
Beneath the data, however, lies something less noble: an ideological campaign to justify deeper government control, higher carbon taxes, and stricter lifestyle regulation, all wrapped in the language of responsibility.
The reality is far less dramatic.
Recent studies suggest the situation is not nearly as dire as we have been led to believe.
To abandon them overnight would shatter economies and condemn the poor to permanent, powerless poverty.
Humanity’s adaptability has always outpaced disaster, but moderation rarely makes the front page or raises eyebrows.
Catastrophe sells; calm does not.
Fear funds foundations, fuels careers, and flatters the high-priests of paranoia.
To acknowledge progress would dismantle the profitable myth of perpetual crisis, and that cannot be allowed.
That narrative serves a purpose; fear is both paralysing and persuasive.
The Guardian and other left-leaning outlets know frightened citizens are easier to steer and convert.
Their climate coverage no longer seeks to inform; instead, it seeks to influence.
Each article is filled with selective statistics, transforming complex environmental issues into simple matters of good and evil.
The good recycle and vote Green; the wicked drive utes, eat meat, and laugh at carbon credits.
In this new creed, virtue is measured by compost bins while vice smells faintly of petrol and steak.
You can fly to Bali if it’s for mindfulness, but never to visit your mates.
Australians should not dismiss this as harmless exaggeration.
Government departments now parrot the same panicked phrases that fill Guardian columns and breakfast briefings.
The Guardian echoes government in turn, a duet of despair that loops endlessly through the news cycle.
It is less journalism than choreography—press releases passed off as revelation, repeated until they sound divine.
Schools join the chorus, teaching children that every sunrise is a countdown and every breath a debt.
Classrooms hold “climate grief” circles where students mourn a planet that stubbornly refuses to die.
What passes for education has become a perverse form of emotional conditioning, collective angst packaged as civic duty.
When told the end is near, people start living as though it already happened—hope fades, and hopelessness seeps in.
Why plan for a future that’s supposedly cancelled?
Why build when only blame is taught?
Politicians mimic the panic, preaching urgency with missionary zeal and no thought for consequence or cost.
“Net zero by 2050” now functions as dogma, not policy, recited more than reasoned or tested.
Farmers, miners, and truckers are scolded to sacrifice while elites still sip wine at climate galas.
The burden of decency, as always, falls on those who can least afford to bear it.
Leaders call it a “transition,” but for working families it feels like a slow, state-managed decline.
The harm runs deep; young minds, consumed by dread, now carry eco-anxiety like a rite of passage.
When authority feeds children visions of doom, it destroys innocence, turning natural wonder into worry and youthful confidence into nihilistic compliance.
A frightened child cannot grow fearless, and a generation raised on doom cannot dream of dawn.
Real compassion would teach care without terror, reason without panic, and responsibility without dread or deception.
To frighten children into obedience for politics is not protection but a subtle form of abuse.
Australians have seen this pattern before.
Each “crisis” brings promises of salvation through regulation.
The housing crisis, the energy crisis, the cost-of-living crisis—each one delivered greater control for government and less autonomy for citizens.
The climate cause now serves the same function.
It is not driven by science alone but by the oldest political impulse of all: the desire to rule under the pretext of rescue.
Of course, the climate is changing – it always has.
The sensible response is not panic but pragmatism, not hysteria but hard-headed realism and resolve.Each “unprecedented collapse” headline is déjà vu with decimals—fresh fonts on the same fading forecast.
The reef keeps reviving, and the prophets keep preaching.
The apocalypse, forever rescheduled, remains the most punctual promise never kept in modern journalism.

We always knew this day would come. The moment when history gets rewritten so The Blob can pretend their life and death battle for climate change was not scientific Voodoo, and a total waste of twenty years and a thousand billion dollars.
If we move all the goalposts, the Paris Agreement is looking good, even though man-made emissions are rising, and almost no one is meeting their targets.
Watch the agitprop in action — firstly they pretend this is about maths — “the numbers are in” as if they have evidence and can count to four. But every number is completely invented, totally elastic and all of it was modeled, and none of it has happened. They’re just saying (and lying) that things could have been a lot worse, but phew, the Paris Agreement is working:

As global heat records keep tumbling, a new analysis shows the Paris climate treaty is having an impact, with warming on track to reach 2.6 degrees if nations meet their commitments, rather than 4 degrees as was predicted before the agreement was signed in 2016.
O’Malley is trying to gaslight the audience into thinking that the IPCC was “predicting 4 degrees C” as the most likely outcome when the range stretched from 0.3°C up to 4.8°C, and all the talk at the time was about staying below 2 degrees with an aspirational target of 1.5°C.
The 4 degree extreme predictions came only from the absurd “RCP 8.5 scenario” — where the whole world flew Concordes to work every day and CO2 reached 936ppm. (But even die-hard modelers like Gavin Schmidt and Zeke Hausfather now agree this was an unlikely and unrealistically extreme outcome.)
But nine years later, after coal use hits record highs and renewables projects are collapsing, there’s not even a hint that global CO2 levels have slowed at all — yet The Blob cheer-squad hails a modeled 2.6 degrees future as a success (if everyone keeps their word which they never do).
And since the 2.6 degree “future” is calculated with models we know don’t work, every single part of this might as well be chicken entrails.
If man-made emissions mattered at all, this is not what “success” looks like:
