Last week, Trump said Omar “should be investigated for Financial and Political Crimes, and that investigation should start, NOW”.

“…the DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars. Time will tell all.”

Omar, who is of Somali descent, is one of Trump’s favourite targets, and he often deploys Islamophobic language to attack her. (Straight from Al Jazeera!)

Impeachment articles have been introduced against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, as a Republican lawmaker signaled the effort could expand to include other state officials connected to a massive fraud case.
 
State Rep. Mike Wiener said he filed the articles on Jan. 12, accusing Walz of failing to uphold his fiduciary responsibilities as a multibillion-dollar Somali social services fraud scheme unfolded under his administration.
 
“This operated almost like a cartel,” Wiener said, arguing that Walz was “ultimately responsible” even if he was not aware of every detail.
 
The impeachment push focuses on claims that state agencies ignored whistleblower warnings and allowed billions in federal funds to be improperly handled. Wiener said the effort may broaden to include Attorney General Keith Ellison and state budget director Erin Campbell, citing alleged lapses tied to the Feeding Our Futures pandemic fraud investigation.
 
Ellison has denied any misconduct and dismissed assertions from convicted fraud organizer Aimee Bock that senior state officials knew about the scheme.
The Minnesota House is expected to take up the impeachment articles when lawmakers reconvene on Feb. 17. Supporters argue the move is necessary for accountability, while critics say it is driven by political motives.
