O’Leary made it clear this ends now. “What we’re doing now ends that forever,” he declared. “When we get out of this thing, I guarantee you there will be a new policy: a permanent security presence, funded by the coalition — the Gulf states, Europe, Japan, China, everybody who needs that oil to flow.
We’re talking maybe a billion dollars a month tops to keep a standing force there. That’s nothing compared to what one day of closure costs the global economy — $10 billion or more in lost trade, spiked prices, chaos.”
He summed it up as basic business sense: “It’s like insurance. You pay a premium to avoid a catastrophe. This isn’t charity; it’s smart business. The days of Iran holding the Strait of Hormuz hostage are over — permanently.”
