Donald Trump is asked in the Oval Office whether talks with Iran have stalled and whether he would consider restarting the war, and the US president responds:

  • “I don’t know what stubborn is because, really, nobody knows what the talks are except myself and a couple of other people. They [Iranians] want to make a deal badly.”
  • “We have a problem because nobody knows for sure who the leaders are.”
  • “I don’t know that we need it [to restart war] … We might need it.”
  • Trump says “probably” on whether he will withdraw US troops from Italy and Spain.

Iranian officials are seeking relief while “trying to figure out their leadership situation.”
