Stefanovic criticizes war crime law changes
About 24 hours before #Stefanovic boarded the flight, his social media channels lit up with him declaring he was “fired up” by former Australian Federal Police superintendent David Craig’s suggestions that changed the legal definition of a war crime of murder just a year before the nation’s most decorated soldier, Ben Roberts-Smith, was charged with killing non-combatants while serving in Afghanistan.
“Ben Roberts-Smith, set up? I am shocked,” Stefanovic says sarcastically in the clip posted across his social media channels, which would quickly become the talk of Nine’s newsrooms. “It sounds like a targeted adjustment to me as this retrospective shift drags BRS’s service record right into the crosshairs of these new laws. “And get this, the changes made only affect alleged war crimes of murder by soldiers, not ISIS brides. Are you kidding? seems to me that we are perfectly comfortable putting a target on the backs of the men and women who fought for this country while giving a free pass to ones who turned their backs on it.”
