JUST IN: Iran Launches Strikes at US Base in “Attempted Surprise Attack” After Trump Halted Strikes Against Iran
Iran launched a missile strike on US forces in the Middle East on Tuesday in what US Central Command described as a “attempted surprise attack.”
All of the missiles were intercepted, CENTCOM says.
This comes after President Trump called off the nearly two-week-long bombing campaign against Iran to continue negotiations on Friday.
“At 5:45 p.m. ET today, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran in an attempted surprise attack on U.S. forces based in the Middle East. All Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. U.S. forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” US Central Command announced in a statement.
US, Saudi forces attack Iraq; IRGC fires missiles at Jordan
- United States and Saudi forces have launched attacks on Iran-aligned groups in Iraq in retaliation for “30 IRGC-directed” drone attacks in the past 30 days, including on Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities.
- Iran claims an attack on a US base in Jordan, with the Jordanian army saying it shot down five missiles at dawn.
- Tehran has rejected Oman’s proposal to split transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz, instead calling for full control of the inbound corridor and partial control of the outbound corridor.
- US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held “positive and productive” talks, the White House says.
Trump Derangement Syndrome has become so severe that too many Democrats now appear more determined to stop President Trump than to stop the Iranian regime.
Iran is not merely another country involved in a policy disagreement.
It is a hostile theocracy that has spent decades threatening Americans, funding terrorist proxies and destabilizing the Middle East.
Yet in the middle of an active conflict, Democrats are making “Stop This Illegal War” their rallying cry while American forces remain in danger.
The House recently passed a War Powers resolution directing Trump to seek congressional approval for continued military action.
Nearly every Democrat supported it, joined by four Republicans, while a similar Senate effort failed.
Democrats claim this is about constitutional authority, but timing and presentation matter.
When one party publicly announces that it intends to restrain its own president while the enemy is trying to survive, Tehran hears something very different.
The message the Iranian regime receives is simple, hold out, keep resisting and wait for American politics to rescue you.
If Democrats regain power, the pressure could disappear and Washington could retreat before the mission is finished.
That is not responsible opposition.
It risks encouraging the enemy to prolong the conflict in hopes that America’s political calendar will deliver what Iran cannot win militarily.
There have been bitter partisan fights during previous American wars, so this may not literally be the first time an opposition party has challenged a president during hostilities.
But rarely has it looked this naked.
Democrats appear willing to hand Tehran a propaganda victory simply because they cannot tolerate Trump succeeding.
Opposing a president is part of politics.
Undermining America’s position while its troops are engaged against an adversary is something else entirely.
It is shameful, dangerous and exactly why this cartoon lands so hard.
Do you believe Democrats are defending the Constitution, or are they allowing their hatred of Trump to override America’s national interest?
