Islam v Civilisation
This Gazan isn’t asking for a state. He’s telling you what the aim is, and the English caption softens it.
On a roof in Gaza, with the smoke behind him, he says they are men of Islam, mujahideen, out for victory or martyrdom. Then the line the subtitle renders as glorifying the religion. The Arabic is narrower. “Ma kharajna illa li-nusrat hadha al-din.” We did not go out except to give this religion victory.
Then he says that tomorrow you’ll see how the men of Gaza will rule the entire world, and he swears by Allah that they will rule the entire world. He tells you to be patient.
This is exactly what we’ve seen across the West since October 7. A man who wanted the 1967 lines wouldn’t be swearing, on camera, that Gaza will rule the world, and he wouldn’t define the war as victory for the religion or death in its name.
Those people calling him a freedom fighter are doing the work he didn’t even ask them to do. He simply said it. We should believe him.
