When the Iranian people rose up against their oppressors in 2009, Barack Obama looked the other way. When the Iranian people rose up against their oppressors in 2022, Old Joe Biden sent their oppressors billions of dollars. But Donald Trump was different.

On January 2, Trump wrote: “If Iran shots and violently kills peaceful protesters, which is their custom, the United States of America will come to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready to go. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J.TRUMP.”

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and other entities set about killing peaceful protesters with impunity, whereupon Trump wrote on January 13: “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

The Iranian people trusted him. They kept protesting, even as the inhuman guardians of the Islamic Republic mowed them down in ever-increasing numbers, as many as 20,000. They renamed streets after him. They knew that he would send the help he promised. They knew he would help them see the end of the bloodthirsty and demonic regime that has murdered so very many Iranians since 1979. They knew they finally had someone who heard their cries. Senior Iranian Cleric Calls for Executing Protesters, Threatens Trump

Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, a high-ranking member of the Iranian theocracy who sits on several of its highest governing bodies, on Friday demanded the execution of protesters and made threats against President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Khatami is a belligerent hardline cleric and close associate of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who personally appointed him to several important positions.

“Any threat against the Supreme Leader is waging war on God, which carries a death sentence,” he proclaimed.

Emmanuel Macron spent his Sunday in Greenland on what can best be described as an anti-Trump visit. The French president dropped in on the Danish autonomous territory en route to this week’s G7 summit in Canada. Flanked by Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland’s Premier Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Macron told reporters he was there in ‘solidarity’ with Greenland.

Le Pen Denies Wrongdoing as ‘Political Death Sentence’ Appeal Starts in Paris

Fighting for her political life, National Rally leader Marine Le Pen appeared before a Paris court this week as she appeals an embezzlement case, which has seen her barred from standing in any election for five years.

At the Court of Appeals on Tuesday, Madame Le Pen began her appeal against last year’s conviction, in which she and other members of the then-National Front party were convicted of allegedly using EU party funds to finance RN operations in France.

Not only was Le Pen convicted over the alleged “embezzlement”, but was also given a sentence of five years of political ineligibility, which came into effect immediately, even during the appeal process, despite defendants usually regaining the presumption of innocence in France during such challenges. Crucially, the five year ban would prohibit Le Pen from running in the presidential election to replace Emmanuel Macron and likely ending her chances at achieving her longtime goal of winning the Élysée Palace.

While the National Rally leader took a combatitive position during her initial trial last year, claiming that it was blatant lawfare tactics by the establishment to keep her from taking power, she stuck a more conciliatory tone this week in Paris.

United States President Donald Trump has said he has received assurances that the killings of antigovernment protesters in Iran have stopped, as Iranian ‍Foreign ‍Minister Abbas Araghchi stated there is “no ⁠plan” for executions by Tehran.

In comments that appeared to signal a more measured approach to the crisis after threatening to attack Iran, Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he had been told that the killings of protesters in Iran had stopped and that planned executions were halted.
