Wong unveils $20m package for Pacific trade and development

Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong, has unveiled new rounds of funding to support the Pacific Islands Forum and Timor-Leste’s trade and development needs, alongside $2 million for climate projects in developing nations.

The announcement was made ahead of the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference in the United Arab Emirates to support prosperity through trade and development.

Australia has stepped up its support of Papua New Guinea’s ­security needs, as Penny Wong led a six-minister delegation to Port Moresby.

The funding packages included $10.3 million for the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat office in Geneva to support the forum’s World Trade Organization engagement, as well as an additional $8.6 million to help Timor-Leste meet their World Trade Organization and ASEAN accession requirements, the minister confirmed.

A further $2 million was pledged to Geneva-based research and development organisations to help climate and development priorities in developing nations.

This could occur if marine debris like lost fishing gear became ensnared around mooring lines and/or cables, or other infrastructure, and subsequently entangled marine wildlife. “Primary” entanglement, where an animal becomes directly entangled in the lines and cables, and “tertiary” entanglement, where marine debris or active fishing gear already entangling an animal becomes caught on the infrastructure and anchors the animal, are additional concerns that warrant monitoring as floating offshore wind development proceeds.

The Hungarian government appears to have taken a cue from former President Donald Trump as it is set to take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, vowing to “Make Europe Great Again”.

Budapest has unveiled its agenda as it prepares to take over the rotating presidency on July 1st until the end of the year. Alongside a seven-point policy programme, Hungary also revealed its logo for its presidency, which featured the Hungarian-invented Rubix cube as well as the Trump-inspired “Make Europe Great Again!”.

The choice of the slogan, an apparently conscious thumb in the eye of the failures of globalist policies favoured by elites in Brussels, is perhaps not surprising given that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been Donald Trump’s closest ally and staunchest defender within the EU since 2016.

Hungary Fined €200 Million By EU For Not Allowing Migrant Invasion – PM Orban Slams ‘Financial Blackmail’

A European Union court has ordered Hungary to pay a fine of €200 million for refusing to adhere to the bloc’s rules imposing open borders on all its member states.

The ruling, which dates back to Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s refusal to implement a 2020 order from the European Court allow migrants to stay in Hungary indefinitely pending their asylum appeals, also states that Hungary must pay a daily fine of one million euros until it complies.

In its verdict, the European Court of Justice said that Hungary had refused to “comply with the 2020 judgment as regards the right of applicants for international protection to remain in Hungary pending a final decision on their appeal against the rejection of their application and the removal of illegally staying third-country nationals.”

“That failure, which consists in deliberately avoiding the application of a common EU policy as a whole, constitutes an unprecedented and extremely serious infringement of EU law,” the verdict continued.

Nobody want’s that crap. EV’s can’t be recycled.

Electrical fires from EV’s are far more dangerous & toxic than fires from conventional vehicles. The whole thing is dead in the water.

The proverbial ‘arse’ has fallen out of the EV market, and it’s those who have already bought who are the biggest losers.

The electric vehicle bubble is bursting.

They were meant to be the environmental panacea – the guilt-free answer to travel.

And just think of all that money you’d save not having to buy increasingly expensive fuel (of which 49c in every litre is tax, by the way).

Cars have always been money pits. I’ve single-handedly put my mechanic’s son through private school.

But those who bought into the EV dream are fast discovering they’re the proud owners of even bigger money pits.

The arse has gone right out of the EV market.

Manufacturers are now heavily discounting new vehicles in an effort to get them off the showroom floor.

A brand new Tesla Model Y is now $11,400 cheaper. The Peugeot e2008 has been given a massive cut from $63,000 to $39,990. On the lower end of the market, a GWM Ora is down 20 per cent to $35,990.

This is partially indicative of more competition naturally putting downward pressure on the market, which is generally a good thing for consumers.

But it’s not much good for someone who bought an EV a year ago, now watching the resale value of their car plummet overnight.

The other cause is a softening market for electric vehicles. And is it any wonder when you take a look at the balance sheet?
