New Delhi: A Saudi Salafi doctor joined ISIS as a suicide bomber and killed 30 people in an attack on a checkpoint south of Kirkuk. It is not clear how Faisal bin Shaman al-Aanzi died or was killed.

According to one Twitteraccount, he was blown up in a car, while another account said he was killed while attending to the injured militants in an ISIS base which was shelled

Those events also led to a Turkish military coup, and the downfall of Adnan Menderes, the Turkish prime minister who was subsequently executed. The historian Speros Vryonis wrote a book about those attacks on Greeks in Turkey, the final one, the one that led to the final collapse of the Greek community in  The Mechanism of  Catastrophe.

MR Alkhafagi of the Shepparton mosque claims that the objection to a mosque being built in Bendigo is being run by outsiders. (“Acceptance takes faith”, Bendigo Advertiser, July 5).

Apparently, it’s all right for an outsider like Mr Alkhafagi to become involved in the Bendigo mosque debate but not other outsiders. 

However, whether or not the debate involves outsiders is irrelevant.
