The imam of Oslo’s main mosque is recuperating in hospital  after a masked assailant repeatedly hacked him with a small axe in the centre of the Norwegian capital.
Many prominent people have declined to attend due to scheduling difficulties, while others have criticised the mosque, which has been financed with 150 million kroner from Qatar. Opponents fear that Qatar will attempt to influence Danish Muslims and use a more conservative form of Islam to radicalise them.

So according to this logic, it isn’t the kidnapping of Eyal Yifrach, Gil-ad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel that has sparked this crisis but Israel’s response. It all started when Israel went looking for its boys.
But this is only the beginning. The rest of Tom Rayner’s article cynically accuses the government of Benjamin Netanyahu of using the kidnapping to further its own political ends vis-a-vis Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. Of course the kidnapping cannot be separated from the wider political situation. Rayner, however, appears to whitewash the nature of Hamas.
By taking out the Hamas leadership, through arrests in the West Bank, and through airstrikes in Gaza, they [the IDF] are pursuing two goals.
The first, to strike a blow at the organisation’s ability to operate and emphasise its ‘terrorist’ character by the de-facto criminalisation of its detained members.
Its a huge step in the right direction to acknowledge this in the national paper. However, the omission of one of the key reasons for this savage crime is a sad shortcoming. A letter to the editor, pointing out the example of Mohammed and Aisha as the guidance for every right-believing Moslem man, would surely help us move into the right direction.

ON a hot summer’s day earlier this year, a beautiful young Pakistani girl named Amina stood in the living room of her western Sydney home, listening in horror as her father explained how he planned to Âmurder her.
“I am going to kill you now, right here!” he shouted at the 16-year-old. “And no one will say anything about what I do to you. I am too powerful in the community.”
A “Human Rights’ shyster is arguing that Australia was responsible for a boat people disaster off Christmas Island and the Commonwealth breached its duty of care.
The Federal Government is being sued by asylum seekers who were involved in the boat disaster off Christmas Island in 2010. Â Human Rights lawyer, George Newhouse, has launched legal action in the NSW Supreme Court on behalf of 8 families.
The Immigration Minister has described legal action, on behalf of families of those killed and injured in the 2010 incident, as “shameful and offensive”.
“This is like someone who is saved from a fire suing the fireman.
“This is like someone who has been saved by an ambulance officer at the scene of an accident being sued for saving the person’s life.
“It’s like someone who was held hostage and being saved by police and suing the police.”
Shine Lawyers yesterday served a 34-page statement of claim on the Australian Government Solicitor, alleging the government is liable for unspecified damages over the deaths of 35 adults and 15 children in the December 2010 disaster, Australia’s worst civil maritime tragedy in more than a century.
The NSW Supreme Court action blames the government for its failure to have any or adequate search and rescue capabilities on the island on the morning of December 15, 2010, when SIEV 221 hit the cliffs at Rocky Point and broke up.
Navy and Customs rescuers rushed to the scene from the far side of the island, pulling asylum-seekers from the water.
The US State Department is very “concerned” for the Muslims in Myanmar due to a proposed bill which would ban interfaith marriage. However, there is little concern for other groups experiencing hardships, such as the oppressed Christians in the Middle East.
Syrian Christian refugees who fled the persecution inflicted by Muslims have been denied visas to the West, and there is no concerted effort to help the Coptic Christians of Egypt, whose situation has become dire since the start of the Arab Spring. Some have opted to go to the nation of Georgia, where an Eastern Orthodox Christian environment is more inviting than one where Muslims kidnap, rape and torture them, destroy their churches and force them to convert.
But the US State Department never expresses concern over Muslims persecuting Christians. On the contrary, the Obama Administration backed the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), a terrorist organization parading around as a so-called political group, now classified as terrorist by both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, though not by the US.
Here’s the reality: the DOJ will not investigate, and the Obama administration will never sanction a special prosecutor. In March, Eric Holder denied Cruz’s request for a special prosecutor on the IRS issue. Which means that, as usual, the executive branch is entirely unanswerable for its crimes…

This jihadist recruitment network is led by a former Guantanamo Bay inmate. And so yet again we see the folly of the Obama policy of emptying out Gitmo while doing nothing to protect non-Muslims from the jihad that these men were certain to return to waging.

This is such a perverted view that cannot and should not be entertained by anyone.  The idea that Muslims are a minority in the west and that  therefore any reporting of their nefarious activities should be proportional to their numbers is obscene and offensive. It is the same as the horrendous claim that Israelis  use “disproportionate force” against poor and ‘oppressed Palestinians’, who demand that the numbers of genocidal Hamas and Fatah headbangers who get themselves killed in the jihad against  the Jews should be brought  on a par with Jewish bloodletting.
We have reported before on the impact 9/11 had on media discourse in the US, and the way American Muslims and their religion have been covered by news outlets – Â often with fear and suspicion. In 2005, Britain had the 7/7 attacks which also affected the media in the UK.
Read the British press, and not just the tabloids, or go online and there are some scary stories about Muslims – the most recent being one on a supposed ‘secret’ Islamic plot to radicalise school students in Birmingham. There is a steady stream of reports on Muslim women and whether they should be covered or not, sharia law and a recent story on what os being called the ‘surreptitious’ serving of halal meat to ‘unsuspecting’ Britons.
Is the UK, as reflected through its media, Islamophobic? Or is this just a case of a community growing and the news media failing to cover them accurately? The Listening Post’s Nic Muirhead now on Islam and the British media.
