For the first time since the beginning of the IDF military operation in the Gaza Strip, Hamas on Monday openly signaled its willingness to accept a cease-fire with Israel.

Bloody coward Haniyeh

The message from Hamas was issued by its prime minister, Ismail Haniyeh, who has been in hiding since the beginning of the offensive.

Haniyeh’s remarks contradict fiery statements made by Hamas leaders in Syria and Lebanon.

Haniyeh said in a televised speech that Hamas would cooperate with any initiative to stop the offensive and reopen the border crossings into the Gaza Strip.

“We will deal positively with any initiative aimed at ending the offensive,” he said.

The protesters, repeatedly shouting “Allahu akbar,” throw traffic cones and sticks at the police and taunt them, calling them cowards and “kuffar” (unbelievers).

The police do nothing, but simply continue to retreat, until 5:50, when they finally start to make a stand — but only briefly.

Why Starbucks? Was it because of something Sheikh Qaradawi said?

TRADERS told today how pro-Palestinian demonstrators caused hundreds of thousands of pounds of damage when they ransacked businesses near the Israeli Embassy.

The policing bill for Saturday’s protest has topped more than £1million. Three officers and 20 demonstrators were injured.

An angry mob targeted shops and cafés in Kensington High Street, looting and smashing windows as violence flared during the rally.

On Friday, the U.N. Security Council approved on a 14-0 vote a badly flawed resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza. Instead of vetoing the measure, as it should have done, the United States abstained, even though the resolution failed to mention Hamas‘ practice of launching missiles into Israel.

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday referred to the US decision to abstain from Thursday’s UN Security Council resolution vote calling for a Gaza cease-fire, saying US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice “was left quite embarrassed, not voting for a resolution that she herself had prepared and organized.”

Which, in their delusional fantasies, will usher in a secular communist utopia. This goes a long way toward explaining how left-wing groups can possibly give their support to Hamas, which is after all a repressive theocratic regime.

From the outset of Operation Cast Lead, a narrative that is highly disturbing for Israelis and Jews has emerged in the Arab world. “Israel carries out mass extermination,” Hamas and Islamic Brotherhood spokesmen scream out on Arab satellite networks, and especially on al-Jazeera. “Collective punishment, genocide, Holocaust,” these same spokesmen cry out, with photos of dismembered bodies in the wake of Air Force attacks posted in the backdrop. These are charged words, yet it is precisely what speakers are trying to achieve: They wish to show the world that Israel has replaced Nazi Germany. Those are not slips of the tongue, but rather, a deliberate argument that is repeated time and again.
