Commando chief says sees 12-15 bodies in Taj Hotel room

NEW DELHI (Reuters) –

A chief of a Indian commando unit flushing out militants at Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Hotel said on Friday that he saw 12 to 15 bodies in one room.

Newsflash: “Indian forces arrest militants, including Pakistani,” from News.com.au,

“We found 12-15 bodies,” the commander, whose face was disguised in a black scarf and sunglasses, told a news conference.

The commandos found money, ammunition and an identity card from Mauritius thought to have belonged to the militants.

Mumbai: its worse than we thought!

Police brought some hostages out of the Oberoi late Thursday night. However, the Indian state department said that at least four Australians and one Japanese national were killed.

I cannot verify that report. And:

Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said the Government was also working to confirm the possibility thatat least 26 Australians were being held hostage.

I fear that the Indian police and army, in conducting operations against hostage takers, are less discriminate than you’d expect in other countries.

A round-up of intelligence sources shows no one really knows yet who is behind this, but suspicions are building:

MUMBAI, Nov 27 (Bernama)— A militant, along with his six attackers who are holding hostages inside Mumbai’s Trident Hotel demanded for all Mujahideens held in India to be released, China’s Xinhua news agency reported Thursday.

The militant identified as Sahadullah said the hostages will only be released from the luxury hotel if India meet with their demand. Mujahideens are Muslims involved in a jihad, who is fighting in a war or involved in any other struggle. (Must be that ‘inner struggle’ we are hearing so much about/ed)

“Release all the Mujahideens, and Muslims living in India should not be troubled,” he told reporters.

Pakistani Nationals in Mumbai Attack

MUMBAI: Preliminary investigations on Thursday pointed to involvement of at least some Pakistani nationals in the serial terror attacks in Mumbai that left over 100 dead and 270 others injured.   “There are indications that the perpetrators of the crime, who arrived in Mumbai by boats, are Pakistani nationals,” authoritative sources said.  

The indications are based on information gathered from captured terrorists, the sources said. 

Maharashtra deputy chief minister R R Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, said revealing detailed information on the terror strikes could prove detrimental at this juncture. ( Watch ) 

“We have total clues. But disclosing information would not help the case,” Patil said. “This is an attack on the country. We will disclose information at an appropriate time,” he said. 

Meanwhile, there are reports that Colaba police have impounded four boats allegedly used by the terrorists to reach the Mumbai coast.

Some 70 percent of Arab women in Israel believe women who are pushed, slapped or struck by their male partners are not victims of domestic violence, according to a poll conducted by the Na’amatwomen’s organization.

The organization conducted the survey to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Some 73 percent believe women whose partners curse or humiliate them are not victims of violence.

Asked whether they agree with the claim that “sometimes a man acting violently toward a woman is justified and she understands this,” 23 percent of the respondents said yes, compared to 71 percent who said they did not.
