* You can’t make this stuff up. Well, this time the hospital got away with it. But surely the hospital won’t make that mistake again and provide some fresh lambs for the slaughter next time…

Patients’ Eid challenge is denied

       The patients claimed their human rights had been breached Two Muslim patients at Rampton Hospital in Nottinghamshire have been told they cannot apply for compensation after being denied Eid celebrations. Their solicitor told the High Court the failure by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust to mark the end of Ramadan last year breached their human rights. The judge said the trust had accepted “in principle” it should be celebrated.   But the application had been brought after too long a delay and would serve no useful purpose, he said. The two patients had applied for permission to seek a judicial review and High Court damages. Both men are in the Peaks Unit of the hospital which is reserved for dangerous patients with severe personality disorders. Great! I have a question, Ms. Ahmed: Do you think talking to non-Muslims will really help improve Islam’s image? Might it be more effective to talk to Muslims? Wouldn’t it lessen the negative image of Islam if you were to try to convince the Muslims who are committing violence and preaching supremacism in the name of Islam to accept peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims as equals on an indefinite basis?

Clashes between guards and prisoners at a jail in Syria have resulted in many deaths, a human-rights group says. 

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 25 people had been killed after military police fired live bullets at Islamist inmates. 

The Syrian authorities have not yet commented on the situation, which remains unclear. One inmate told the BBC he believed more than 25 had died. 

Prisoners said the clashes were sparked by raids in which guards beat inmates. 

They said the guards had also desecrated copies of the Koran.

The Islamists take desecrating the Koran seriously… When they can tie it to the US. Otherwise, it’s not really that big of a deal.

Portraying Muslims as different and dangerous can have serious repercussions, and tonight’s Dispatches draws attention to a growing number of Muslims who now live in daily fear; some because their homes are repeatedly vandalized, others because they have suffered devastatingly violent attacks.

“at the same time, a majority of the public also continues to believe that the religion of Islam is to blame for the bombings.” (Gee! Who would think a thing like that!)

“it is time to stop conflating the actions of a tiny minority of extremists with the entire Muslim community or the whole religion of Islam. Why hasn’t any of it been reported? Does anybody realize that this TV-journo with his Muslim head on is lying whenever he opens his mouth?

It has been called the Betty Ford clinic for jihadists and within minutes of arriving at the Care Rehabilitation Centre on the outskirts of Riyadh, you can see why. The small complex, where the Saudi Arabian government is exploring a new way of reforming its wayward radicals, [as opposed to standard Wahhabi radicals?] feels more like an exclusive boarding school than a Saudi jail.Inmates have access to swimming pools, table tennis and PlayStations. In the evenings, guards and prisoners play football. An air-conditioned tent sits adjacent to the sports field, serving as a dining hall and common room where, when I visited, the prisoners were tucking into rice and lamb with fresh fruit for pudding.

In return for this privileged treatment, the prisoners – Islamic extremists, some of whom are convicted murderers – are obliged to attend lessons based around Islamic law and the jurisprudence of jihad. A team of psychologists teaches detainees how they should manage their emotions, particularly when reacting to world events.

Art therapy classes help inmates to “reveal their softer side”. And it is not just the artwork that is surreal. It is quite a sight to see men in flowing robes, with unkempt beards and their trousers hoisted above their ankles, sit down with a pack of crayons to express themselves. “The unconscious mind holds a lot of things,” said the therapist.

KABUL, Afghanistan – A car bomb ripped through the front wall of the Indian Embassy in central Kabul on Monday, killing 40 people in the deadliest attack in Afghanistan’s capital since the fall of the Taliban, officials said.

 

 

The massive explosion detonated by a suicide bomber damaged two embassy vehicles entering the compound, near where dozens of Afghan men line up every morning to apply for visas.

A Clayton County man faces murder charges in the strangulation death of his 25-year-old daughter early Sunday over what police said was her desire to end an arranged marriage.

Chaudhry Rashad, 54, apparently became angry during an argument in which the victim, Sandela Kanwal, told him she wanted out of the marriage, Clayton police spokesman Timothy Owens said.

The father and daughter are both of Pakistani descent, and police said language barriers have slowed their investigation.

Many Greenlanders living in Gjellerup Park [a suburban high-rise district of Ã…rhus, Denmark — translator] are fed up. After several years of racist persecution and harassment by Arab and Somali tenants, they’ve now chosen to abandon the place.

“I couldn’t stand being their target. It was a psychological stress. But I’m angry that we were the ones to leave. After all, they were the ones to attack us,” says Johanne Christiansen.
