If anyone out there believes that Abbas is a realistic partner (following in the footsteps of Yasser Arafat), they should listen to former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who came out last week and explained what happened behind closed doors in the negotiating room. In an interview with Channel 2, Olmert said that in the 36 meetings he held with Abbas, everything was agreed The only thing that was missing was a signature.

PA Minister for Religious Affairs Mahmoud al-Habbash said that there would be no sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian holy sites other than Palestinian sovereignty. “This is the full right of the Arab, including Muslims and Christians,” he said.

Al-Habbash claimed thatIsrael has plans to “divide” the Aqsa Mosque. “These efforts won’t succeed,” he added. He was referring to routine visits by Jews to the Temple Mount and calls by some Israelis to impose Israeli sovereignty over the compound.

Another top PA official was quoted as warning Israel against the consequences of “desecrating the holy sites in Jerusalem.” Israel, he charged, is “playing with fire.” In the Gaza Strip, Hamas representative Yunis al-Astal accused Israel of plotting to “destroy” the Aqsa mosque in order to build the Third Temple.

Olmert gave up the Jordan Valley, divided Jerusalem, handed over control of the Temple Mount, returned to the 1967 lines, retreated to the settlement blocs, made territorial swaps, agreed in principle to the right of return, accepted the symbolic resettlement of 5,000 refugees, and invited Abbas to fly with him to the U.N. General Assembly, where they would jointly declare the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He even held out a pen for Abbas to take so that he could initial the deal.
How surprising — Abbas refused. Today, there is widespread consensus. Since Abbas didn’t sign then, he won’t sign ever.

Australia should not have a “national imams council”. That would eliminate the ‘dismay’ over what the media reports.

What’s the collective term for a group of imams?

It’s an important question. As Australia’s Islamic population continues to swell, we will be dealing with groups of imams on a regular basis. So we might as well come up with the term now. If you have a suggestion please send it through.

In the absence of anything better, I’m going to go with a ‘Frenzy of Imams’ for the time being. It seems comfortably apt.

For those who don’t know, Australia has an official Frenzy of Imams. It’s called the Australian National Imam’s Council. And they have been whipped into a frenzy of late. It’s not because some Islamic convert married his 12 year old daughter off to a Lebanese man. Rather, it is because the media has covered this scandal.

Hence the frenzied press release that started with the words:

“Australian National Imams council is distressed and expressed its dismay on the media reports…”

Shedding more light on the question, we’d like to cite the words of the eminent Muslim scholar, Sheik Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, in his well-known book, The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam:

It is haram for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man, regardless of whether he is of the People of the Book or not. We have already mentioned the saying of Allah, “…and do not marry (your girls) to idolaters until they believe…” (Al-Baqarah: 221)

And He said concerning the immigrant Muslim women: “Then if you know them to be Believers, do not send them back to the unbelievers. They are not lawful for them (as wives), nor are they lawful for them (as husbands).” (Al-Mumtahanah: 10) (More)

Red Cross doctor in Austria rejects blood donations from Muslims

The doctor in the city of Linz claimed that Muslims have bad blood and at least suffer from Hepititus (sic) B.
