BANGUI, Central African Republic — Joyful crowds poured onto the streets of this capital on Friday after the president of the strife-torn Central African Republic resigned under pressure from regional leaders.

Singing, dancing on the wide avenues, waving palm fronds and shouting slogans against the departing president, Michel Djotodia, the crowds briefly put a celebratory face on a battered city that has known mostly violence, upheaval and grief over the past year.

Mr. Djotodia, whose chaotic nine-month rule has been marked by the abuses of his mostly Muslim rebel movement, was pushed out after being summoned to neighboring Chad by its president, Idriss Déby Itno, a regional power broker who, along with other neighboring leaders, criticized him for failing to stop the continued sectarian violence in the country.

The Academic boycott of Israeli academic institutions is a two edged sword.

Does it get any dumber than that? Yes:

A Weekly Standard article by American Enterprise Institute Fellow Max Eden, “Why this Boycott is Not like the Others” provided background on the panelists. Eden wrote:

The panel on Thursday will feature four belligerent anti-Israel activist advocates and a moderator who makes the panelists look like Likudniks. Barbara Harlow has already publicly endorsed an academic boycott. Richard Ohmann has declared that our “taxes have for years supported Israel’s project of ethnic cleansing.” David Lloyd wrote in the Electronic Intifada, a website devoted to Israel’s destruction, “It is not only that … all Israeli institutions are complicit in the occupation. After first apologizing, the IRS is circling the wagons. 

Last year, when news broke that the IRS had been targeting Tea Party groups in what looked like an effort to help Barack Obama’s reelection efforts, the President was outraged.  He claimed that the incidents were “inexcusable” and promised a full investigation. His administration wouldn’t rest until they’d discovered how something they so clearly condemn could have happened. After all, this was a scandal that struck at the very heart of the electoral process and, if there’s one thing Obama loves above all else, it’s Democracy.

So, of course, his administration secretly placed a large scale Obama donor in charge of the investigation.

When Muslim spokesturds rave about billions and billions of dollars being made in the “growing halal market” it seems to deprive people of their ability to put reason and common sense over Mohammedan gobbledegook.

NISHIO, AICHI PREF. – A growing number of food industry firms are seeking halal certification for their products dishes, reflecting an increasing influx of Islamic travelers and the huge global market they represent.

Muslim fare: People try certified halal food at a promotional event last month in Yokohama.

Halal, an Arabic word meaning “permissible,” is used to designate foods that comply with Islamic law by excluding pork and alcohol. To obtain halal certification, food makers and restaurants must not only prove their products or dishes don’t contain the two ingredients, but also that there is no possibility of those ingredients being used during the manufacturing or cooking process.

Rice cracker maker Katouseika Ltd. obtained halal certification last June for its cuttlefish crackers, which are now sold with halal labels at a department store in Singapore and at Narita International Airport near Tokyo. The special crackers rang up some ¥2 million in sales from July to December.

“We hope these halal crackers will allow us to expand our sales channels at a time when domestic demand is slumping,” said Kazuya Nakagawa, 26, who is in charge of product development at the Nishio-based foodmaker in Aichi Prefecture.

The firm is now working on getting halal certification for its mainstay shrimp crackers. “We want to spread the flavor of Japan” around the world, Nakagawa said.
