He would like to see Muslims behave this way. As am ambassador of Islam, he calls on Muslims to “open up to the issues of poverty and care for creation.”

Cairo (AsiaNews) – The Muslim world “has yet to learn mutual respect and to listen to others because violence and aggressiveness are not even useful roads even if one wants to proselytise. I learnt from Christians that we canbe together, faithful of different religions or traditions, without condemning or damning each other to hell,” this according to Idris Tawfiq, a professor at the prestigious Islamic university of Al Azhar, who attended the assembly of the World Council of Churches, which took place recently in South Korea. Did you hear about the survey conducted this week that found only 16 per cent of Australians think that Islam makes our nation a better place?

Neither did I.

That’s because the media is just not interested in covering any stories that highlight exactly how concerned Australians are about the rise of Islam in this country.

But the survey is in and it is very clear.

Over 70 per of Australians disagree with the politically correct mantra that Islam is compatible with our way of life. The vast majority do not believe it provides anything beneficial to this nation. Most Australians do not believe that we need more of it here.

New study exposes scandalous fatwas of Brotherhood and Salafis in Egypt

Meanwhile the Salafis — who, in the light of the Bortherhood’s ouster have become Islam’s standard bearers there — continue successfully to push for strict interpretations of Sharia law in Egypt’s new constitution.

As the full ramification of the Muslim Brotherhood’s year in power continues to be exposed, a new study by Al Azhar’s Fatwa Committee dedicated to exploring the fatwas, or Islamic decrees, issued by the Brotherhood and Salafis — the Islamists — was recently published.

Al Azhar, in Cairo, is considered by many to be one of the oldest and most prestigious Islamic universities in the world. The study, written by Al Azhar’s Dr. Sayed Zayed, and entitled (in translation), “The Misguided Fatwas of the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis,” reveals a great deal about how Islamists view women.

OnIslam/DOHA – With all eyes fixed on Angolan Muslims, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed dismay and shock about the reports of the Angolan Government’s decision to ban Islam and demolish mosques, voicing similar concerns for Burma and Philippine Muslims.

“We have clearly expressed our opinion that we cannot accept this [decision],” Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu told Al-Jazeera satellite channel in an interview aired on Wednesday, November 27.

“After denials from Angolan officials, we are working on dispatching a fact finding team to get an internationally accepted report,” he added.
