We wonder who are the Shariah experts that will advise the London Stock Exchange in developing the index of compliance with alleged Islamic business practice?  And how much of a split of the profits in these Sukuk issues goes to fund Zakat, Muslim charity, one purpose of which is to follow the way of Allah, Jihad?

The Brits are doomed, because once started there is no stopping, including creeping Sharia in the Offices of their Governments.

Islamic nations can make great contributions to the world, says Nawaz

LONDON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that with more than 1.5 billion people, over 835 million youth and a combined GDP of $6.6 trillion, the Islamic nations have much to offer the world, both in economic contribution as well as socio-political philosophies.

 “Economic contribution as well as socio-political philosophies?”

Nawaz Sharif quite naturally assumes the role of a speaker for the worlds muslims, as if they were one nation. If that is the case, we should be treating the ‘ummah’, the worlds 56 Islamic nations, as one.

“Economic contribution” means they will continue to absorb any amount of jiziya (in the form of aid) and  by “socio-political philosophies” he means Islam, which muslims are obliged to spread all over the world by the law of allah.

Who benefits from the convergence of Iran and Turkey?

Mr. Erdogan is right that Greece should treat its Turkish minority in full compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights, and European Court of Human Rights jurisprudence. He is right to expect an EU member state to treat an ethnic minority in full compliance with European democratic culture and values, and free from any hint of political paranoia. But he is absolutely wrong to make it a matter of reciprocity when it comes to the legitimate rights of Turkish citizens of non-Turkish origin.

Mr. Erdogan should be able to understand that Turkey’s non-Turkish citizens [i.e., non-Turks, that is Greeks, Jews, Armenians] are Turkish citizens and their rights should not be a matter of reciprocity over how a foreign country treated its own citizens of Turkish origin.

Reciprocity is a nice word connoting justice. But it can be dangerous if used unjustly. As the same reader puts it: “If the Turkish prime minister is really seeking reciprocity maybe Greece should dwindle the Turkish minority to a few thousand through pogroms and deportations.”

It is a demographical fact that the Turkish minority in Greece has grown from 129,000 in 1923 to around 150,000 today; while an estimated 200,000-strong Greek population in Turkey after the 1923 exchange of populations has dramatically shrunk to less than 2,000. 

Why, really, have Turkey’s Greeks have disappeared over the past half a century but Greece’s Turks have preferred to remain in their homeland?
