Images of Yazidis fleeing parts of Iraq and Syria have shocked the world and the battle against the jihadists with the Islamic State has united Americans, Europeans, Kurds and Iranians. Can the Islamists be stopped?

In Raqqa, Syria, the Islamic State’s “caliphate” has already become a reality. All women in the city are required to wear the niqab veil and pants are banned. Thieves have their hands hacked off and opponents are publicly crucified or beheaded, with the images of these horrific acts then posted on social networks.

The few hair salons that are still open are required to black out the pictures of women on the packaging for hair dye solutions. Weddings are only permitted to take place without music. And at livestock markets, the hindquarters of goats and sheep must be covered in order to prevent men from viewing their genitalia and having uncomely thoughts.

Any person caught out on the street during the five daily prayer times is risking his or her life.

They’re murdering, torturing and forcing families to give their daughters away for marriage to Islamist fighters coming in from abroad. One girl whose family agreed to marry her off took her own life.

THE Prime Minister warned this week about a potential “mass casualty event” from homegrown Islamist terrorists, and exhorted all Australian communities to join “team Australia”. The reaction from the sneering Left was scornful laughter.

Miranda Devine suggests “we should listen to people who understand the problem”, which is an admission that she doesn’t understand it. She believes Psychiatrist Dr Tanveer Ahmed has an insight into the psychology of the rage-filled young Muslim men he visits in NSW jails.

Lets get real, Miranda:the last thing you want is to learn your Islam from Tanveer Ahmed. It is important for us to understand Islam, its tenets and atmospherics, and its goal, which is the annihilation of unbelievers. What we don’t need is more “understanding” of Mohammedan grievances. That’s a losing strategy.

The Islamic Council of Victoria, which (claims it) represents more than 150,000 Muslims, has said it is boycotting a scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Tony Abbott in Melbourne after he urged the Muslim community to join “Team Australia”.

Mr Abbott told Macquarie Radio in Sydney that he would urge community leaders to speak out against radical Islam.

“Everyone has got to put this country, its interests, its values and its people first, and you don’t migrate to this country unless you want to join our team.”

Islamic council secretary Ghaith Krayem described Mr Abbott’s comments as ill-informed and inflammatory.

The Sydney academic was barred from speaking at the Opera House in June amid community outrage at a proposed speech at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas on how honour killings were “morally justified”.

Mr Badar (pictured right), the Australian spokesman for Hizb ut-Tahrir, said his speech was cancelled because he wouldn’t “toe the secular liberal line”.

Hizb ut-Tahrir promotes a hardline Islamic position on sharia law, backs jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraq and supports terror attacks on Israel.

“What the government and media are targeting is not just violence. That’s the cover. Even if you’re not violent, you’re attacked with the same ferocity,” Mr Badar told his followers on Facebook.

“In this sense, the target is Islam directly — those parts of it that don’t accord with secular liberal values.”

The UWA Muslim Students Association told vice-chancellor Paul Johnson yesterday morning it would cancel Mr Badar’s planned lecture, titled “Gaza Crisis”.

Here’s what happened:

The ‘Stop the Mosque in Bendigo’ page has been removed by Facebook after a Bendigo resident reported it for hate speech.

The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said Facebook’s message advising her of the page’s removal came through about 3am on Tuesday morning.

She said she chose to report the page to Facebook because it was unfair to Muslims and made her embarrassed.

May the burqa rest lightly on her shoulders!

Amazing that to preserve the future of an ideology you have to silence all debate and critical analysis of it! The thing you cannot speak about is the thing you should fear the most! We have a problem and Tony Abbott reaches out to Muslim leaders to help avert what would be a disaster for the Muslim community:

Mr ­Abbott [met Sydney Muslim leaders yesterday] to build support for reforms that would allow police to arrest Australians who may have joined foreign conflicts.

Mr Abbott will meet Islamic leaders in Melbourne today and Attorney-General George Brandis will hold a meeting in Sydney on Wednesday to discuss the new laws.

But how serious and responsible are these leaders really? How quick are they to play the victim card and make non-Muslim Australians seem the real problem?

Example 1: The Islamic Council of Victoria has boycotted today’s meeting with Abbott, accusing him of being divisive and inflammatory.

Know your enemy. To know what ISIS is, we have to clear away the media myths about ISIS.

ISIS is not a new phenomenon.

Wahhabi armies have been attacking Iraq in order to wipe out Shiites for over two hundred years. One of the more notably brutal attacks took place during the administration of President Thomas Jefferson.

That same year the Marine Corps saw action against the Barbary Pirates and West Point opened, but even Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore and Howard Zinn chiming via Ouija board would have trouble blaming the Wahhabi assault on the Iraqi city of Kerbala in 1802 on the United States or an oil pipeline.
