UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned of a looming humanitarian catastrophe in western Myanmar after the killing of nearly 400 people – mostly Rohingya Muslims – in the worst outbreak of violence in years.
“The secretary-general is deeply concerned by the reports of excesses during the security operations conducted by Myanmar’s security forces in Rakhine State and urges restraint and calm to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe,” read a statement issued by his office on Friday.

Stockholm on Lockdown As Police Officer Stabbed in Neck By Moroccan Youth
A man was arrested for attempted murder in central Stockholm, the capital of Sweden Thursday morning after a police officer was stabbed in the neck while on patrol, the second attack against police in the city in a matter of hours.
The incident took place on the Medborgarplatsen on Södermalm, one of the Islands that makes up the historic center of the city. Police have said it is too soon to talk about possible motives for the “unprovoked” attack, but Nyheter Idag reports a “well-established police source” that the would-be killer was a Moroccan youth.
The solution? Bring in many, many more Muslim migrants. Otherwise you’re a racist, bigoted “Islamophobe.”

More than 18,000 Rohingya Muslims, many sick and some with bullet wounds, have fled the worst violence to grip northwest Myanmar in at least five years, while thousands more are stuck at the Bangladesh border or scrambling to reach it.
Friday’s series of coordinated attacks by Rohingya insurgents on security forces in the north of Myanmar’s Rakhine state and ensuing clashes triggered the Rohingya exodus, while the government evacuated thousands of Rakhine Buddhists.
Since the attacks, about 18,445 Rohingya – mostly women and children – have registered in Bangladesh, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Wednesday.
‘They are in a very, very desperate condition,’ said Sanjukta Sahany, who runs the IOM office in the southern town of Cox’s Bazar near the border.
Philippines president Rodrigo Duterte told reporters Wednesday that, following the liberation of the Grand Mosque of Marawi, the nation’s military could now bomb mosques, madrassas, and other hiding centers to finally eliminate the Islamic State presence in the city.
Marawi is the Philippines’ only official Islamic city, as over 90 percent of the country identifies as Roman Catholic. The Maute Group and Abu Sayyaf, local Islamic State affiliates, attacked the city in May, taking hostages, killing civilians, and selling many as sex slaves. The Philippine military stated this week that it is organizing a final siege to remove all ISIS terrorists from the city.
Duterte told the military on Wednesday that “the option is already yours” to bomb any remaining ISIS strongholds “because we cannot have stalemate [sic] for over one year,” according to regional website Rappler.
“It will generate more hatred, instead of healing, but it’s taking so long, it’s out of my hands already,” he lamented. In announcing the tactical change, Duterte noted that the military had requested the ability to bomb mosque and other sensitive sites in the past, including locations where their intelligence indicated the Islamic State was keeping hostages. “That plan has been on deck for a long time—to bomb mosques to capture or kill the leaders there and in the process sacrifice the hostages,” he explained, “But I have my limits.”

Douglas Murray was born in London in July 1979, putting him midpoint between Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s January flight from Paris to Tehran to lead the Shia Muslim revolution, and the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December, which triggered a global Sunni Muslim jihadist reaction.
On September 22, 1979, Khomeini made a speech to university students in Tehran, declaring that “those intellectuals who say that the clergy should leave politics and go back to the mosque speak on behalf of Satan”. Alas, the clergy in question have not left politics.
During Murray’s childhood, Khomeini established a theocratic state in Iran. Just after he reached adulthood, the Sunni jihad movement declared war on the US. Just after he turned 22, the hijacked planes crashed into the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, and the US retaliated by invading Afghanistan to hunt down al-Qa’ida’s leadership.
Throughout Murray’s life, jihadist terrorism has grown worse and worse, while Muslim immigration to and activism within Europe have increased relentlessly.
In short, this journalist, author and political commentator has lived all his life against a background of Muslim insurgency and terrorism, as well as massive and now all-but-unrestricted Muslim immigration into Europe.
