Journalist says only truth will set Palestine free

Truth is hard to come by  in the Middle East. “Palestine” is an Arab fantasy, a fata morgana. There are Syrian Arabs, Jordanian Arabs, Egyptians and Lebanese who call themselves “Palestinians”, but their claims on Israel are as fake as their invented claims of a “Palestinian people”.  Above all, the last thing they want is ‘freedom’. They want Islam. They want to be slaves of Allah.

THE Palestinian diaspora in Australia is facing an unexpected catastrophe. Normally, May 15, Israel’s Independence Day, is the most important day of their year for celebrating their victimhood: the catastrophe, as they see it, of the founding of Israel.

But, this year, visiting fresh from the streets of Gaza, Ramallah and Jerusalem is Khaled Abu Toameh, an Israeli Arab Muslim journalist, who declares: “I’d rather be a second-class citizen in Israel than a first-class citizen in any Arab country.”

Official Palestinian Arab figures released today say that there are now 10.9 million Palestinian Arabs worldwide, eight times the number in 1948.

Of those, some 4.7 million are considered “refugees” registered to UNRWA, meaning that the number of “refugees” have increased by a factor of eight as well.

Tom Gross reports that JPost ‘Palestinian’ reporter Khaled Abu Toameh, who is a Muslim, has had a speaking engagement canceled at Tufts University just outside of Boston for fear that it would be ‘misunderstood‘ by Muslims.

Moderate Palestinian journalist Khaled Abu Toameh, who is a subscriber to this email list, writes on his Facebook page:

“Tufts Friends of Israel, the pro-Israel group on campus, has decided to cancel a lecture by Khaled Abu Toameh, scheduled for next week, in fear that I will be seen as anti-Islam by the Arab students and would make Tufts Friends of Israel look bad.”

This follows the recent decision by the Israel Society at Cambridge University in Britain to cancel a talk by Benny Morris (see a previous dispatch on this list for details.)

South Africa’s revered Archbishop Emeritus, Desmond Tutu, has just praised the recent Berkeley student vote (which the university’s president later vetoed) to divest university money from companies that “profit from the injustice of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land in violation of Palestinian human rights.” Tutu writes that what he witnessed in occupied Palestinian territory reminds him of the conditions he “experienced in South Africa under the racist system of apartheid.”
