No “Jihad”, No “Terrorism”, No Problem!

by Baron Bodissey

There seems to be a new rule in the Department of Homeland Security and the national security community:

“No individual attack can be considered a terrorist act unless there is clear public evidence tying it to Al Qaeda.”

Sounds like Janet Incompetanto, doesn’t it? Homeland contingency operations, man-made disasters,  anyone?

This comes in handy for those federal agencies which forbid their employees to use sensitive words such as “jihad”. For example the National Counterterrorism Center:

Never use the terms “jihadist” or “mujahideen” in conversation to describe the terrorists. A mujahed, a holy warrior, is a positive characterization in the context of a just war. In Arabic, jihad means “striving in the path of God” and is used in many contexts beyond warfare. Calling our enemies jihadis and their movement a global jihad unintentionally legitimizes their actions.

The media are ready to jump on the bandwagon. According to the guidelinesissued by the Society of Professional Journalists for its members:

Avoid using terms such as “jihad” unless you are certain of their precise meaning and include the context when they are used in quotations. The basic meaning of “jihad” is to exert oneself for the good of Islam and to better oneself.

Don't call the terrorists what they call themselves….

Been there, done it.

Remember Overseas Contingency Operation? Remember “man-caused disasters?” Insanity is now policy. Perverting language strategy.

Jihad? What jihad? Obama bans mention of Islam, jihad

If language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant; if what is said is not what is meant, then what must be done remains undone; if this remains undone, morals and art will deteriorate; if justice goes astray, the people will stand about in helpless confusion. Hence there must be no arbitrariness in what is said. This matters above everything.

Hazel Blears, Jacqui Smith, Gordon Brown, Jack “the burqa” Straw and other mental flatliners tried it in once great Britain, where titles of nobility have been bestowed on the most undeserving Mohammedans, Islamists who now sit in parliament, corrupt, incompetent, insolent and obstructive, enemies of democracy, who focus on one goal only: the Islamization of Britain.

Karen Hughes, a Bush confidante who served as his top diplomat to the Muslim world in his second term, urged the White House to stop the “War on Terror:”

…. it’s unfortunate because of the way it’s heard. We ought to avoid the language of religion,” Hughes said. “Whenever they hear ‘Islamic extremism, Islamic jihad, Islamic fundamentalism,’ they perceive it as a sort of an attack on their faith. That’s the world view Osama bin Laden wants them to have.”

Community organizer Obama, America’s first Muslim POTUS,  now wants to repeat this failed experiment:

Don’t call the terrorists by their name

Andrew Bolt

Barack Obama seems to think that if he refuses to mention why they fight, terrorists will forget:

President Barack Obama’s advisers plan to remove terms such as “Islamic radicalism” from a document outlining national security strategy and will use the new version to emphasize that the U.S. does not view Muslim nations through the lens of terrorism, counterterrorism officials say.

The change would be a significant shift in the National Security Strategy, a document that previously outlined the Bush Doctrine of preventive war. It currently states, “The struggle against militant Islamic radicalism is the great ideological conflict of the early years of the 21st century.”

This strategy is going to cause grief for the US State Department, which will have to ask many of the world’s worst terrorist groups to find less explicitly Islamist names if they want to be included on its list:

The only thing Barack Obama ran before he became a president was his mouth.
This is showing. This man is a clear and present danger to his country.
I am not convinced he is not a muslim. Besides, even if I am wrong, with friends like him, Muslims don’t need converts. He is handing it to them on a plate.

“New” name for Iraq War another embarrassing moment for Obama appointee

Jake Tapper strikes again with his breaking blog news on the Obama admin “renaming” the Iraq war as of Sept 2010.

In an effort to put a fresh face on a much maligned, but successful (in the end) Bush admin operation, Sec’y of Defense Robert Gates sent a memo to the CiC Obama yesterday, requesting a name change for US and/or coalition forces in Iraq starting Sept 1st of this year.

The whoopdedoo proposition? Change Iraqi Freedom to Operation New Dawn.
