The suggestion of violent disputes between a 16-year-old girl in Mississauga and her father over her desire to show her hair and live a “normal” lifestyle raises questions about tensions between parents and children in the Muslim community.
But members of the community – particularly young Muslim women – say the tension can exist both ways.
Ausma Khan, the editor-in-chief of Toronto-based Muslim Girl magazine, said research into the readership of her publication shows that the decision to wear the hijab – the traditional Muslim headscarf – is almost always a choice the girl makes on her own.
“We have also heard from other girls saying that they don’t know if they want to wear it and that they’re unsure and that there is community or family pressure to wear it,” she said, but stressed that type of response was in the minority.
Maryam Rana, 20, a student at the University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus, said she has been wearing the hijab since she was in Grade 3 and was not very receptive to it at first.

Peel police just issued the following release:
Peel Police – 16 Year-Old Girl Succumbs to Injuries
Mississauga – The Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau is continuing their investigation into the murder of a 16 year-old Mississauga girl.
On Monday, December 10, 2007, at 7:55 am, a 9-1-1 call was placed by a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter. Officers attended a residence on Longhorn Trail in Mississauga, where the victim was located. Aqsa PARVEZ was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but tragically passed away late last night.

Don't curse us, don't threaten us with death or hellfire, and don't accuse us of being "just like the terrorists" because we don't do to Muslims what they do to us or to themselves. Yes, we know that only idiots oppose Islam and sensible people submit, but you should know that we are ignorant bigots, hypocrites and Islamophobes, and we prefer to remain that way...
But since you are forcing yourselves (and your abhorrent belief-system on us) we will defend ourselves, because we must. Avoid tu quoque and ad hominem attacks. Don't bother with circular reasoning either, we been there, done it. If you annoy us, you will be banned and your posts summarily deleted.
Try to add to the discussion, don't try to sell snake oil, don't try to cover us with Islamic shrouds of kitman and taqiyya, don't bother with da'awa, (we've heard it before) don't spam us with long pieces of cut & paste, write in English, try to tell the truth,

Years ago, politicians must have thought it was a great idea to have people experience the various cultures of the Third World. Rather than sending their citizens to such wonderful places as Pakistan, these politicians decided to bring the Third World to the West by altering their immigration policies. Mission accomplished-we are now living in what is slipping faster and faster into the Third World as more and more cesspoolians come here with their wretched “customs”. I would like to hear from any Western leader how this is supposed to be a good thing-I suspect this question will NEVER be answered.
ISLAMSFORLOSERS, I suspect attempts to answer WILL eventually be made, only in the language of the islumic apologists.

United Muslim Women of Canada’s Anisa Ali said the public shouldn’t assume that honour killings only happen in the Muslim community.
“It’s not an Islamic practice,” Ali told CTV’s Canada AM on Wednesday. “There’s nowhere in the Quran where it talks about honour killings. It’s more of a cultural phenomenon.”
She said honour killings are not limited to Islamic countries like Pakistan, Jordan, Syria and Afghanistan.
“There’s Latin American countries, it has taken place in Germany, in Britain,” she said. “A lot of it is under the guise of family honour or religious values.”

Sad to see a young person lose her life because her father is an old world thinker and obviously cares nothing about the country who took him in from the shithole he left behind. he didn’t seem to understand that here people have rights and liberties , his family included.
he even got his son involved in his fanatical behavior. I don’t see getting into the religious aspect or even the culture ‘ murder is murder and hes now a ward of the federal government . A life term is not out of line here and may save other innocent people from suffering her fate ‘ sending a strong signal that this kind of behavior will not be tollerated regardless of the culture or religious background.
