The Kingdom’s stand is very clear when it comes to human rights. Its gesture toward other countries is also well known; it is one of the largest aid donors in the world…. A country that maintains solid and good relations with the international community will not tolerate any kind of abuse within its borders and this is not just because Saudi Arabia follows the teachings of Islam, a great religion that denounces any kind of abuse even of animals, but because it is the natural act by any decent human being regardless of his religion.

Mr. Speaker, freedom of speech continues to be shouted down by the politically correct police. In the Netherlands, it is against the law to say something that offends someone else’s religion. That is why Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders is on trial for hurting people’s feelings.

He made a movie about terrorists and radical Islamic clerics encouraging violence in the name hate. Now he is on trial for insulting Islam. He is charged with discrimination and incitement to hatred. Because Dutch law is intolerant of intolerance.

The Dutch courts say even truthful insult speech is a crime. Sounds like the law has become the enemy of free speech and a protector of the radicals.

Geert Wilders boldly brings to the world’s attention the dangers of religious radicals who believe in hateful violence, and he gets in trouble for it. He ought to be commended rather than condemned and charged with a crime.

Freedom of speech is a universal human right, granted by God, especially if that speech is political, religious or truthful. A free people won’t tolerate intolerance for freedom for very long.

And that’s just the way it is.

Tarek Fatah has used the National Post to present a one-sided, inaccurate and potentially dangerous editorial about statements made by Dr. Wafa Sultan during her March 3rd debate in Toronto with Dr. Daniel Pipes.

Mr. Fatah’s article is not an unbiased report:  it is an opinion piece full of loaded terms such as slur, attack, hateful, anguish, Islam haters and vitriol.  He misquotes Dr. Sultan and presents as fact a conclusion that is not supported by any of her statements:  a conclusion that I believe puts her life in danger.

I am a freelance reporter; I covered the debate between Dr. Pipes and Dr. Sultan for the Jewish Tribune. I have an audio recording of the entire event, including the Question and Answer period, so I can state with complete accuracy what was and was not said by Dr. Sultan.

Wafa Sultan would not have any of that. “There is no moderate Islam,” she wagged her finger at Pipes. There was only one Islam, she claimed– the Islam of rape, murder and hate.

To his credit — and this will surprise many of his Muslim naysayers —Daniel Pipes reminded his Jewish audience that Islam was not the bogeyman it has been made out to be. “Remember, for over 1,000 years, whenever Jews needed a place for sanctuary, they got it in Muslim lands … The problem is not Islam, it is Islamism,” he told them. Not. There is no “Islamism”. There is only Islam…..

On Monday, ACT! for America sent an Action Alert to our Virginia members, urging them to contact the House of Delegates to protest the decision to have imam Johari Abdul-Malik give the opening prayer at the House session yesterday.

Below is The Washington Post story, a prime example of politically correct media bias.  While there are 11 lines devoted to allegations and concerns about Abdul-Malik, there are 29 lines providing various expressions of defense of him.  Hardly fair and balanced.

And not one line that actually quotes what he has said that causes concern.

Radical headbanger leads prayers cursing the kafir in the House of Delegates. Opposition smeared as “racist…”

Such as when Abdul-Malik compared the conviction and life sentence of an Islamic terrorist to the civil rights struggle:

“Our whole community is under siege. They don’t see this as a case of criminality. They see it as a civil rights case. As a frontal attack on their community….The feeling I get here on a daily basis must be what it was like to be a member of Martin Luther King Jr.’s church following the case of Rosa Parks. People always ask, ‘What is the latest from the courthouse?’”


Or when he defended a Muslim cleric who got a life sentence for counseling others to wage war against the U.S. with these words:

“There is a view many Muslims have when they come to America that you could not be arrested for something you say….but now they have discovered they are not free to speak their minds.”


Apparently, The Washington Post couldn’t cut a few of the 29 lines defending Abdul-Malik to actually tell its readers what he has said.

And at the end, notice how the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) once again, right on cue, engages in the propaganda technique of name calling.

Even I, can see that for the British establishment Muslims are contemptible creatures, devalued humans. As I prayed before starting this column I felt tears stinging my eyes and my face was burning as if I had been slapped many times over. Do they expect me to turn the other cheek? Millions of other Muslims must have felt what I did. And some may well go on to do things they shouldn’t. Their acts will intensify anti-Muslim prejudices and will be used to justify injustice. The cycle is vicious and unrelenting.

Once again at weddings and birthday parties, in quiet, tranquil mosques, at dinner tables across the land, including those of millionaire Muslims, I am hearing murmurs of trepidation and disquiet – voices kept low, sometimes vanishing into whispers, just in case; you never know if they will break down the door. These people are, like myself, well incorporated into the nation’s busy life. Some own restaurants and businesses, others work in the City or law firms and chambers.
