In case you’re imagining your typical friendly outgoing Aussie, let me reassure you that in our glorious multicultural society, a Muslim woman complete with hijab is our chosen representative. Given that Muslims comprise only 2% of our population, and Muslim females presumably roughly half that amount, you could be forgiven for asking why choose someone who speaks for only 1% of our youth. Australian Federation of Islamic Councils president Ikebal Patel is the 2011 ACT Australia Day Ambassador.

Mr Patel is the president of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils and is widely involved in organisations such as Civil Liberties Australia and the White Ribbon Foundation.

He was awarded the Pride of Australia “Fair Go” Medal last year.

Al-Azhar cuts off talks with Vatican for daring to criticize Muslim persecution of Christians

Shut up and take it like a good dhimmi. An outrageous example of how Islamic supremacists constantly displace responsibility for evil deeds done by Muslims — from the leading institution in Sunni Islam, which the New York Times has called “the most moderate Islamic educational institution.”

“Sunni Islam’s al-Azhar freezes talks with the Vatican,” from DPA, January 20 (thanks to JW):

Cairo – Al-Azhar, one of Sunni Islam’s oldest universities and mosques said Thursday it has indefinitely suspended inter-faith talks with the Vatican in response to recent remarks by Pope Benedict XVI on attacks against Christians in the Middle East.The decision was taken in light of Benedict’s ‘repeated negative references to Islam and his claims that Muslims persecute those living among them in the Middle East,’ Al-Azahr said in statement sent to the German Press Agency dpa.

Al-Azhar, which is a Cairo-based government institution, and the Vatican have previously cooperated to promote dialogue between Christians and Muslims.

However, relations were shaken when Benedict earlier this month condemned a New Year’s Eve bombing of a Christian Coptic church in Alexandria that killed 23 people.

How dare he!

The pontiff’s words drew criticism from Egypt’s top Muslim cleric, Ahmed Al-Tayeb of al-Azhar University who described then as an ‘unacceptable interference in Egypt’s affairs.’…

Warsi has  outed herself as a stupid mouthpiece of those who are bamboozling Britain into Islamisation, and  a supporter of that process. She is no different from those who threaten  ‘If you say again that Muslims are extreme or violent we’ll kill you’.

Just whose side is wailing  Warsi on?

Where to start with Baroness Warsi? According to an advance report in the Daily Telegraph of a speech she is making this evening at Leicester University, the Tory party’s co-chairman will say that

Islamophobia has ‘passed the dinner-table test’ and is seen by many as normal and uncontroversial.

Oh really? Prejudice is a hostile view which is unsupported by evidence. Clearly there are people who are indeed prejudiced against Muslims, usually on the grounds of their colour or some more general distaste for foreigners of any kind and their religion or customs. But such people certainly have passed no ‘dinner-table test’ of respectability.

No, what Warsi is calling ‘prejudice’ is talk about Muslim extremism or Muslim terrorism. Because look at what she reportedly goes on to say:

The notion that all followers of Islam can be described either as ‘moderate’ or ‘extremist’ can fuel misunderstanding and intolerance

Remarkable. When people fail explicitly to differentiate ‘moderate’ Muslims from ‘extremists’ they are tarred and feathered as ‘Islamophobic’. But now Warsi says that to differentiate in this way is also ‘Islamophobic’.

Wailing Warsi is a Mohammedan parasite and propagandist. A disgrace as long as she’s allowed near parliament…..

EREZ CROSSING, Gaza Strip (AP) — Dozens of furious Palestinians protested against the French foreign minister on a visit to the Gaza Strip on Friday, pelting her motorcade with eggs and narrowly missing her with a lobbed shoe.

The protesters, relatives of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons, were angry about comments Michele Alliot-Marie reportedly made the day before in support of Gilad Schalit, an Israeli soldier captured in a cross-border raid by the Islamic militant group Hamas and held in Gaza since 2006.

Hamas is demanding that Israel release hundreds of Hamas prisoners, including militants behind deadly attacks against Israelis, in return for Schalit. Talks facilitated by a German mediator have produced no result. Schalit has been seen by no one but his captors since 2006. A videotape released in 2009 showed him talking and reading a newspaper. Ashraf Azad admitted assaulting Afshan Azad

Ashraf Azad, 28, admitted attacking his sister Afshan Azad, 22, who played Padma Patil in the hit films.

The prosecution accepted the brother’s guilty plea to assault occasioning actual bodily harm but cleared both him and his father of threats to kill her.

He had been remanded from an earlier hearing at Manchester Crown Court.

Azad branded his younger sister a “prostitute” and “slag” after she met a young Hindu man, the court heard.

The actress fled the family home in Longsight, south Manchester, through a bedroom window after the attack on 21 May 2010.

Miss Azad’s character, a witch in the same year as Harry Potter at Hogwarts, first appeared in Harry Potter and the Goblet Of Fire.

She also features in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final film of the saga, which is being released in two parts.

Update:

The actress, who now lives in London, had pleaded for leniency from the court, begging the judge not to jail her older brother.
