Following are excerpts from a statement by Sheik ‘Atiyya Muhammad Sa’id, a member of the Sudanese Islamic Scholars Association, at a rally, which was posted on the Internet on May 5, 2011/MEMRI presents:
Sheik ‘Atiyya Muhammad Sa’id: May Allah have mercy on Osama Bin Laden. May Allah place him along with the righteous and the martyrs, “on whom there shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” He sought not this world, but the world to come.

CAIRO (AP) — Deadly Muslim-Christian riots that left 12 dead and a Cairo church a burned-out husk have magnified worries in Egypt over Islamic ultraconservatives who have grown more assertive since the fall of President Hosni Mubarak….
Note that for AP, “ultraconservatives” are those who want Sharia, and simultaneously “ultraconservatives” are those who oppose Sharia. You see, all we need is to get rid of ‘conservatives’ and replace them with progressive leftist lunatics and bingo: all the world will live in peace.

In mosques and on satellite TV stations, Salafis have accused Christians of trying to break what they call Egypt’s “Muslim character” and storing weapons in churches and monasteries….

The government has been told that it may be risking causing offence to Muslims living in Ireland who wish to engage in polygamous marriages.
Senior department officials at the Department of Social Protection said procedures where children born to second or concurrent wives were recorded as illegitimate could cause offence. In a special briefing note prepared for the minister, Joan Burton, the officials warned that Muslim men here may believe that Irish procedures were ‘‘disrespectful’’ to their religion.
Right. Will the Irish respect stoning, FGM, child marriage, honor killings, the murder of  apostates,  killings for blasphemy, polygamy and all the rest by paying for it?

Jakarta: Indonesian prosecutors on Monday dropped the most serious terror charges against radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir for lack of evidence, leaving him facing a possible life sentence instead of death.
Prosecutors at his trial in Jakarta said the charge of providing firearms and explosives for terrorist acts, for which the 72-year-old preacher could have faced the death penalty, “could not be proven convincingly”.
Of course not.
Hundreds of Bashir’s radical followers erupted into chants of “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest) in support for the man who is widely regarded as a spiritual leader of Southeast Asian jihadists.
