Let me first disclose that I am not Muslim, nor have I ever really studied Islam. Most of what I know about it I’ve heard from others or looked up online. I was raised a Christian, and became an atheist/agnostic as an adult. I have a much better understanding of Christianity than of Islam. The following is a translation from an excerpt of Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s Fiqh al-Jihad, which was posted on IslamOnline.net. Here al-Qaradawi defends the position of those he terms ‘moderates’ from attacks by ‘extremists’ who argue that moderates don’t accept offensive jihad. Al-Qaradawi argues that to the contrary moderates do accept offensive jihad, including raids into enemy territory, and gives some reasons for which they would accept it.
This is interesting in light of statements of Muslim apologists and spokesmen in the West, who routinely argue that Islam really means an inner spiritual struggle against sin, but inasmuch as it does refer to warfare, it is purely defensive. But when you look at the justifications al-Qaradawi gives for offensive jihad, you find that by his definition even the ‘moderate’ Muslims accept offensive jihad against the infidels under almost any pretense.

A sheikh familiar with an Arab truck driver who went on a recent rampage in Tel Aviv says the man, Issa Ibrahim Islam, was “possessed by the devil” at the time of the incident. The sheikh claims he treated Islam, who he said was in a difficult mental state before the incident took place. The sheik is in Germany, Stuttgart, Germany, Â with Robert Spencer and the good people of Pax Europa who organized a public speaking event yesterday.
There was heavy police presence, police were out in the hundreds, (500 is probably a good estimate)  in heavy riot gear,  and they made it clear they were really not interested to “take sides” or to protect us. One of them suggested we should call it off.  A few of the Islamic thugs came dangerously close and a few of them were taken away in handcuffs long before we could even reach the stage. A skinny German chick kept screaming ‘racist, racist’ at me, and when I told her  that Islam is not a race she said “there are no races anyway”- (‘es gibt keine Rassen’) So I said ‘if there are no races then how can there be racism?’ Logical thinking is not one of the strengths of these tools. We were bombarded with eggs, coke bottles filled with all kinds of nasty stuff, and my  good suit is no longer… good. Here are the first pic’s:

According to Swiss News  SVP National Council Oskar Freysinger (photo) was forced to cancel  Geert Wilders visit due to pressure by Muslim fundamentalists, who predicted  “violent reactions”.  (pi reported).  As usual in these cases, the ‘moderate Muslims’ cannot guarantee that ‘some radicals’ might riot in order to give the religion of peace a bad name.  The public appearance of the Dutch parliamentarian in Switzerland was finally called off. The decision is in agreement with Wilders, according to SVP Valais from Tuesday evening. Further information you can find on the homepage of Oskar Freysinger, who used to believe that  Switzerland “is a free country”.
