It’s being reported by the Catholic news agency Asia Newsthat in the predominantly Coptic Christian Egyptian village of Ezbet Jacob Bebawi, a Muslim youth who was apparently angry over the pending installation of a new church bell in the town’s Coptic church, took out his frustration by beating a young (and very pregnant) Coptic woman.
And as a group of Christian men came to her rescue, they were attacked by a mob of Muslim men armed with iron bars and farm tools (scythes and sickles?).
When Egyptian security forces eventually stopped the fighting, only Christians were arrested, to include a weapons possession charge against the husband of the woman who was initially attacked
Asia News cites an unnamed source as stating, “[Muslim] people are influenced by imams and Muslim extremists and do not act rationally but by instinct.”
