IN THE end, Waleed Aly won the Gold Logie, and the sky didn’t fall in.

Aly acknowledged the debate that had surrounded his nomination with his trademark no nonsense approach. “There’s nothing wrong with this picture.” 

And as Australia reacted to the news, it seemed many agreed — one only had to look at new Logies Hall of Famer’s Noni Hazelhurst’s tears as Aly spoke to know that.

Social media lit up with congratulations, many quoting another of Aly’s lines in his speech, “yes, this is happening”.

Fellow Gold Logie nominee Lee Lin Chin, whose Twitter account usually is pure delightful sarcasm, interrupted normal transmission with a heartfelt message to the winner.

“As much as I would have loved to have won the Logie, I would never have been as articulate as Waleed. Australian TV needs more of you,” she wrote.

This extraordinary news shows how far the European Union, the Party of Good, the Party of European Duty Toward Muslims — the “duty” being that of helping ameliorate the conditions of Muslims by taking into Europe ever-greater numbers of these “refugees” – is prepared to go, in squeezing economically those member states of the European Union that are not willing to accept as many Muslim migrants as the European Commission, in its wisdom, has determined they should take in.

It is not coincidental that those countries most reluctant to accept the European Commission’s diktat are in Eastern Europe. They received their political freedom comparatively recently, having been held captive as members of the Soviet bloc, and are grateful for what they thought would be freedom from the kind of bullying they endured from the Soviet Union. They assumed that they were rejoining Europe; instead they find they have joined quite a different thing, the European Union, an officious multinational meddler and bully. Given their own history, these Eastern Europeans are keenly sensitive to assaults on their freedom by E.U bureaucrats who, in their nonstop display of political correctness, seek to force Eastern Europe to take in ever more migrants, just as the “enlightened” states of Western Europe have had to do. The Poles, the Czechs, the Hungarians, however, have not yet succumbed to these pressures; they do not think that Europe owes Muslim migrants anything.

British buses to get slogans proclaiming Allah as country’s biggest Muslim charity launches campaign to aid Syrian victims

Adverts proclaiming glory to Allah will be branded on hundreds of buses around the country to raise money for victims of the Syrian Civil War and portray Islam in a positive light.

Islamic Relief, Britain’s biggest Muslim charity, came up with the advertisements with the line ‘Subhan Allah’ – meaning ‘Glory be to God’.

The government-backed organisation wants to ‘break down barriers’ and portray Islam in a positive light.

Muslims will be asked to donate to the cause to ‘gather the rewards of Ramadan’.

Cities with the largest Muslim communities will be targeted. London has 50% of Britain’s three million Muslims.

On March 11, 2004, 192 people were killed and 1,400 wounded in a series of terrorist attacks in Madrid. Three days later, Spain’s Socialist leader, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, was elected prime minister. Just 24 hours after being sworn in, Zapatero ordered Spanish troops to leave Iraq “as soon as possible.”

The directive was a monumental political victory for extremist Islam. Since then, Europe’s boots on the ground have not been dispatched outside Europe to fight jihadism; instead, they have been deployed inside the European countries to protect monuments and civilians.

“Opération Sentinelle” is the first new large-scale military operation within France. The army is now protecting synagogues, art galleries, schools, newspapers, public offices and underground stations. Of all French soldiers currently engaged in military operations, half of them are deployed inside France. And half of those are assigned to protect 717 Jewish schools. Meanwhile, French paralysis before ISIS is immortalized by the image of police running away from the office of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo during the massacre there.

You can find the same figure in Italy: 11,000 Italian soldiers are currently engaged in military operations and more than half of them are used in operation “Safe Streets,” which, as its name reveals, keeps Italy’s cities safe. Italy’s army is also busy providing aid to migrants crossing the Mediterranean.

‘Destroy Barriers’: Anarchists, Pro-Refugee Activists Clash With Police At Austrian-Italian Border

Hundreds of anarchists and black bloc activists have spurred unrest at the Austrian-Italian border storming the train station, throwing stones, flares and smoke bombs at riot police, who used batons and tear gas against protesters.

The demonstration on Saturday at the Brenner mountain pass between Italy and Austria came in response to the enforcement of stricter border control measures to tackle the influx of refugees.

FIVE more Melbourne women have fled to Syria to become jihadi brides in the past 12 months — taking the total number of Victorians to 10.

It is believed Victorian women could contribute more than a third of the Australian jihadi brides in Syria.

And at least one Victorian woman is believed to have been killed in the Islamic State war zone.

The most recent five women, aged between 17 and 25, travelled in pairs while one woman made the trip to Syria via Turkey on her own.

The frightening development comes as fellow Australian Shadi Jabar Khalil Mohammad — the sister of teenager Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar who killed Curtis Cheng outside a Sydney police station last October — was confirmed dead by the Pentagon, along with her IS husband Abu Sa’ad al-Sudani.

Shadi Jabar — also known as Umm Isa al Amrikiah — and her husband were killed in a coalition air strike on April 22 near the Syrian town of Al-Bab.

MUMBAI: Efforts may be on to end the practice of female genital mutilation that young girls in the Dawoodi Bohra community are made to undergo in India but their spiritual leader may not be convinced yet as he went on to publicly encourage the act of khatna (female circumcision) albeit indirectly, in his recent sermon at the Saifee Mosque in Bhendi Bazaar.

A four-minute audio clip from Syedna Muffadal Saifuddin’s bayaan (speech) on the occasion of the 51st Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s death anniversary, has gone viral over a mobile messaging app and generated conversations within the community on how the Syedna’s endorsement may urge close followers of the spiritual head to continue with the painful practice.

The clip begins with a plea from the Syedna speaking in a mix of Gujarati and Urdu. “We should keep our things strong, stay firm. Even the big sovereign states, whatever it is they say, if it makes any difference to our things, then we are not prepared to understand!” he says and then adds. “The act has to happen! If it is a man, then it is right, it can be openly done, but if it is a woman then it must be done discreetly, but then the act has to be done. Please understand what I am trying to talk about…”

A Mumbai resident present at the Hussaini Mosque where the sermon was being beamed live on a giant screen confirmed that the clip was what he had heard being broadcast. “The Syedna was reading from a script which is usually the routine on such an occasion but all of a sudden he went off and started talking in a cryptic fashion. It was confusing at first. Then we gradually realized that he was talking about female circumcision when he used words like amal (act), mamlakat (states) and that the act must be carried out discreetly for women and openly for men. It was very disturbing for me and my wife,” he told TOI. A close friend of the Syedna family dismissed such an interpretation of the Syedna’s speech when TOI called him. “It was a general comment. Nothing specific. People are interpreting it differently,” he said alleging that, “Those close to the new claimant to the Syedna title are trying to target our revered Syedna (Muffadal Saifuddin).”

A 36-year-old Bohra woman who has lived through the horrors of khatna and currently settled in the US expressed her anguish having heard the clip. “Just a month ago many of us in the US received a letter from the jamaat (local community unit) that works under the Syedna’s guidelines. It said that we must follow the law of the land and not practice khatna. I was thrilled, at peace with my faith. What I just heard reflects hypocrisy. I’m disillusioned and worried.”

It’s “outrageous” and a “kick in the stomach.” Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban has slammed EU proposals to fine member states a quarter of a million euros for every migrant they refuse to take, as part of controversial quotas.

He says the focus should be on protecting Schengen borders and the running of refugee camps.
