Fatah calls for violence in Jerusalem: “Continue the uprising and struggle… raise the level of confrontation”
Remember: Fatah are the “moderate” terrorists, the ones we can do business with… as long as we pay them the jiziya.
Islam wants you to “defend your homeland, your holy sites,” if you die fighting, you go to “Paradise,” your enemies go to “hell” – top PA religious leader
Here we go again. Suckers needed to blow themselves up for the Mohammedan cause. Virgins are waiting. But no guarantees….
Pali-Greek orthodox priest threatens world: You’ll have no “peace and stability” without “justice and peace in Palestine”
That’s dhimmitude on steroids.
Warning graphic but real language that may offend ;
In the end, the whole conflict is not as complex as it sometimes seems. Here is what senior Hamas official Fathi Hammad said on May 7th:
“People of Jerusalem, we want you to cut off the heads of the Jews with knives. With your hand, cut their artery from here. A knife costs five shekels. Buy a knife, sharpen it, put it here and just cut off (their heads). It costs just five shekels. With those five shekels, you will humiliate the Jewish state. … The Jews have spread corruption and have acted with arrogance, and their moment of reckoning has come. The moment of their destruction at your hands has arrived.”
Note that the enemy is not Israel, but Jews. Wherever Jews have “spread their corruption”, their “moment of destruction has arrived”.
This is a Hamas senior leader, not some street thug. There were no discernible voices of Palestinian condemnation. There was no horrified outcry.
Imagine if any Jewish leader had proposed doing the same to Arabs. First: it is almost impossible to envisage anybody recognized as a Jewish leader issuing such a call because attacking the innocent runs counter to everything Judaism stands for. Second: if any Jew were to utter such sentiments, the chorus of repudiation from across the Jewish spectrum would be deafening.
That’s it. That’s pretty much the whole conflict.
The Palestinians (not all, but the majority) continue to dream of the day when the Jews will either be dead or gone … a day when they will have all the territory “from the river to the sea” for themselves. They have not even reconciled with a Jewish presence in the land, much less a state that is Jewish. Conversely, Jews have shared this land for millennia. We share it today, and the vast majority of Jews have no issue with that reality.
Everything that currently seems to be an “obstacle to peace” (settlements, status of Jerusalem etc.) will be negotiable on the day that the Palestinians say that they are ready to defend the right of a Jewish state to exist in the land within secure borders, alongside a peaceful Palestinian state.
We cannot know when that day will come. Only the Palestinians can decide when they want to invest their energies in building their own future, rather than attempting to destroy Israel. Peace will only come when that day arrives. And on that day, most Israelis will be ready to make difficult concessions to make peace a lasting reality.
Right now, that day seems far away because of a persistent core asymmetry: the prevailing Palestinian ethos (as evidenced by the popularity of Hamas) is that Israel must be defeated, while the prevailing Israeli ethos is that the Palestinians are our neighbours, and Israelis long for the day when the Palestinians will build a prosperous, thriving, tranquil society of their own.
