“Our” taxpayer funded ABC promotes the grooming of children:
The ABC’S managing director has rejected accusations the public broadcaster is “grooming Australian children” by screening a Play School episode read by a drag queen about a girl who wants to wear a suit.
South Australian Liberal Senator Alex Antic used Senate estimates on Tuesday to question ABC boss David Anderson about an episode of Play School Story Time read by well-known drag queen Courtney Act.
The episode featured the book The Spectacular Suit where a girl rejects her mother’s request to wear a dress on her birthday because she wants to wear the spectacular suit.
Senator Antic said the story was “about a female child wanting to wear male clothing” and questioned why the program had a G rating.
“Why is the ABC grooming Australian children with this sort of adult content?” he asked.
Mr Anderson said the program was not about grooming, but rather children playing dress-ups.
“We are not grooming Australian children, what we are doing in that, that is about dressing up,” he said.
That’s not even an argument. That’s just dumb.
Senator Antic’s questions prompted a sharp response from Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
“Grooming is a really serious matter, it’s not for being played with by conservative senators so they can make headlines,” she said.
“I think sexual assault survivors right around this country will be deeply offended, deeply offended by you playing politics.”
But Senator Antic continued his line of questioning, asking Mr Anderson if the content in the show was contributing to a “gender dysphoria problem” in Australia.
“I don’t see a gender dysphoria problem, what I see a set of very complex issues that exist within Australian society,” Mr Anderson said.
“I don’t think we’re generating anything, I think if anything the ABC reflects what is happening in the Australian community.”
You are not reflecting anything. You are promoting sexual deviants. You are engaged in grooming children!
