They did the same in Iran too, before overthrowing the monarchy and imposing Sharia law. 

Demo prayers are not to demonstrate religiosity, they are to demonstrate Islamic superiority. It is to tell the kuffars ‘we own your streets, we are here to stay, we will make this land Islamic whether  you like it or not. Demo prayers are a call to Islam, a call to make you submit. If you fail to submit, Mohammedans are entitled to wage jihad.
