Russian Media and Even the Kremlin Highlight That Trump Acquiring Denmark Is a ‘Huge’ Achievement That’ll ‘Go Down in History’

Sometimes the truth comes from where you least expect it.

As US President Donald J. Trump moves to secure the Western Hemisphere, especially with his ongoing offensive to acquire Greenland, either by a financial settlement or by force.

In this delicate geopolitical moment, nearly the entire Western media is throwing rocks at Trump’s initiative, giving voice to ‘leaders’ who call it ‘wrong, unacceptable, insane, mad’.

But you are never going to guess where we can find a more refined and truthful account of it: in the Russian media, and even in the Kremlin.

Yes, you read it right.

Russia, one of the extra-hemispheric countries most affected by changes in Venezuela and elsewhere, but where a sober and fact-oriented account of the geopolitical moves can be found: ‘If Trump gets Greenland, he will go down in history as one of the great American presidents.’

“The annexation of Greenland by US President Donald Trump would go down in US history as a ‘huge’ achievement, political risk consultant and lawyer Adriel Kasonta has told RT.

[…] ‘It will be a huge win for Donald Trump, because… many presidents before saw the strategic importance of Greenland… and they wanted to acquire Greenland, but without any successful result’, Kasonta said in an interview on Sunday.

If Trump were to acquire the Arctic island for the US, ‘he would succeed in securing the security of Northern America where other presidents in the past failed’.”

Kasonta stated that the island ‘is the only key territory the US needs for securing the Western Hemisphere’.

“’It gives the primacy also in securing the supply chains of rare earth minerals that are currently being dominated by China’, he said, adding that the island also has a wealth of lithium and cobalt’.”

The Kremlin itself has stated today that ‘Trump will go down in history if he finds solution for Greenland’.

Spokesman Dmitri Peskov: ‘There are international experts’ saying this, and it’s ‘hard to disagree’ with their assessment,

 

What are the downsides of taking Greenland?

 
Well, you establish a precedent that “if I have the power, I get to take what I want.” That’s always been enforced. That’s human nature.
 
We’ve constructed a kind of elaborate series of rules, theoretical rules, designed to pretend that’s not true and to mitigate it to some extent over the last 80 years, but really that’s always been true and always will be true. But that’s a pretty tough game. Once you write the rules that if someone can take something because they want it, it’s okay. You have to live with them.
 
NATO will effectively be done. How can you have a defensive alliance when one member acts against another? You probably can’t. NATO was going out anyway.
 
Is it really bad that NATO is going away? No, it’s a huge victory for the world and for the United States, but it’s going to be tough for its many employees and for the entire infrastructure of foreign policy thinkers such as they are in Washington and Brussels and throughout Europe.
 
They’re going to have to face the reality that this is not a real thing anymore. If NATO was real, then the U.S. wouldn’t have taken Greenland. So there’s that, apparently a downside.
